Spring should be able to hold the weight of the chain. Hysteresis is a bitch. You might be able to wind more tension in, but I suspect its deaded. Give it a ride, it will work but you'll be more prone to chain drops. The chain on my recumbent was nearly 5ft long, way more than the spring could...

The RS looks pretty tidy to be fair. the SV on the other hand has been down the road on the right hand side and it's had it's lower fairings removed (the bracket is still hanging of the bottom of the engine). it looks tidy enough I guess. also, it's missing a bolt out the of the right hand...
