I had a headset lower cup do something like that. Much less damage than that but eventually it would have kept chewing away at it. It was from a semi-deep cup DH headset that mushroomed out(or in?) because it hit the step inside the headtube when installed. Poor measurement on my part.

It's a slightly odd Alpinestars. Steel frame and fork, definitely 1 1/8" threaded at the moment, no reducers. Top tube decal says D735 and that's about it. Intend to throw fenders and bags on it but need a little squish in the fork.

Looking for Rockshox Judy XC fork in good shape. 1 1/8" threaded steerer tube would be ideal. Threadless is also workable. With canti brace would be fantastic. In that goldish silver champagne color if possible, pretty sure it's a close match to my Alpinestars frame. Extra points for good...
