    1935 GA 77 or 99

Re: Hi, that's lovely, looks the period and some very nice period parts. I have seen some GA lightweights but I don't have any info on them, they did advertise in Cycling pre war. As you state, it is a small frame, I have a couple of period bikes from this era and its surprising how nice they...

Mystery Sports Frame 30's 40's HELP!

Re: Hi, we seem to be diving in all over the place, Sun did there own lugs at this point in time, and the serial number would be on the dropout, as indicated most of the 'lead' lightweight builders ( evans included ) had moved on from this type of catalogue build, so it most be a small shop...

Mystery Sports Frame 30's 40's HELP!

Re: Hi, looks late 30's, brampton fittings, but as far as the maker is concerned, your only hope is that serial number, that is a very unusual spot, it is a very generic build from that era I'm afraid. Its not a Selbach I'm afraid, the top builders were moving on from this type of build in the...

    Mid 70's FW Evans Track/Path

Re: Hi, nice bike, are you sure about your dates, that fork crown looks mid late 50's. The frame is fairly standard ( a high standard ) nervex build, with few clues to the builder, some builders have little styling cues that help identify them and there appears very little to assist on your...

    RO Harrison Frame ID Help!

Re: Hi, bit of an inbetweener this one, the dropouts and frame fittings look pre war and the fork looks post war. I would come down on 1941, as I can't see Harrison using that dropout in 1951. Whether it used gears is down to the dropout distance 110mm and it was a sturmey or fixed, if it is...

    1935 Sun Wasp

Re: Wow, what a good restoration, now enjoy it, I've been on some fair trips ( 50 - 60 miles ) on my wasp and I do understand why they had a good rep in the 30's, they are a comfortable carriage not fast but ideal for steady touring. Terry

Re: Hi, a lovely collection of vintage bikes, in excellent condition he had excellent taste. 1st is a Bates Cantiflex Frame Diadrant Fork from late 40's early 50's - very desirable. 2nd looks like a mid 50's Frejus - very nice 3rd is a mid / late 50's Carlton Flyer track iron - very nice 4th...

Early Post War Allin Frame ?

Re: Hi Steve, that's a lovely thing, I've not seen one of those before. Would that fit on a cyclo brazon, as I had a bike with a cyclo setup that had a chain stay clamp which the cyclo derailleur was bolted too. This might be worth looking for at jumbles, I've a grainy piccie attached. Terry

Early Post War Allin Frame ?

Re: Hi Steve, derailleurs are restricted for this period, the best one being Simplex tour de france, if needs be I usually just go for something looks period, i.e. if you have spacing for five speeds a campag grand sport would do. I was interested in you comment about simplex champion du...

Early Post War Allin Frame ?

Re: Hi, nice find, the Stan Butler specials Allins were top notch, and they were usually built by Peter Cobb. I wouldn't worry about the lack of a headbadge, it was post WW2, and materials were in short supply, there is a piece on the lightweight http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/bu ...

    Help identifying old Claud Butler

Re: Hi, plenty of clues, that reynolds decal was produced between 1973 and 1977, the brake date stamp looks okay, the serial number was all over the place mid seventies, so 1977 looks good. Catalogues and history can be found at http://www.nkilgariff.com/ as far the model is concerned. Terry

What to do with an unknown Steel Frameset. Nervex Pro Lugs

Re: Hi, nice quality frame, at a guess circa 1952/3 ish ( curved brake bridge, early pro lugs ) can't add anything more, as suggested it is probably a local shop order done by a quality frame builder, stays look Claud Butler ish, but that's about it, I'm afraid, just some thoughts. Terry

Vintage touring bike... What make is it ?

Re: Hi, a difficult one, the ekla lugs were very popular in middle/late 40's, I've seen that deep filed top of the stay, in some North/East East London frames, have you checked for numbers on the BB or drop out, also, the brake bridge was used by a few builders at this time, Grubb and Hills...
