Claud Butler tourers ‘77 Cavalier & ‘84 Majestic

Sadly that's the long and short of it. After I've done all the work I much prefer selling them whole but it seems there's much more of a parts market than there is for whole bikes and probably why I have a garage full and am always telling myself I need to have a cull [edit] I forgot to say...

NEW TI RALEIGH 753 40TH TDF ANNIVERSARY MODEL v.2

Re: Re: I take your point torqueless and on to a certain extent agree but I don't think I made mine sufficiently well. The more I think about the market for this bike the more I'm convinced this bike was never really aimed at those who had any real interest in those criteria back then, had it...

NEW TI RALEIGH 753 40TH TDF ANNIVERSARY MODEL v.2

On the frames resultant quality I expect the frames were produced where they were because that's where a good number of their frames are now produced and that's where the procurement department have all their links and contacts. Would they have been much better having the frames produced here...

NEW TI RALEIGH 753 40TH TDF ANNIVERSARY MODEL v.2

That's pretty much my feeling on this frame There is money in nostalgia and of course any company that owns a name that evokes that nostalgia would not be doing their job if they didn't attempt to pursue the profit that can be gained there. That said these things were produced in sufficient...

Anyone have any ideas on what followed me home this time?

Re: Re: Yes I've taken to tidying things away so I must be bored and its already in bits unfortunately as I had uses for some of it but you're welcome to the frame and forks, just not sure how I'd get it to you

Anyone have any ideas on what followed me home this time?

Re: Re: Well thanks very much both, mystery solved and me a little more educated. No idea what I'll do with it but at least I know what it is.

Anyone have any ideas on what followed me home this time?

Re: Re: Yes I'm thinking mass produced but there are a couple of bits like the rear brake bridge and rear dropouts that I think are unusual enough to for someone to be able to identify it Yes that was my first thought but the dropout isn't quite right and I would have thought that curved rear...

Anyone have any ideas on what followed me home this time?

I went out last weekend to pick up a nice Columbus framed Ribble I'd bought via the internet and when I picked it up the guy I bought it from said do you want another? He said its free otherwise its going to the tip as its not in great nick. So not being one to turn down anything road bike...

NEW TI RALEIGH 753 40TH TDF ANNIVERSARY MODEL

I know and I have people coming out to me from there to buy bikes as I'm much cheaper than bikes in London, but locally I'd be far better off moving a fair bit north if I wanted to make any money, its lucky its just a hobby, I do it for the enjoyment and only want to get my money back because I...

NEW TI RALEIGH 753 40TH TDF ANNIVERSARY MODEL

I think the market for steel framed bikes in general is very location biased in the UK and in my part of it I would be lucky to get anywhere even remotely close to that

NEW TI RALEIGH 753 40TH TDF ANNIVERSARY MODEL

NEW TI RALEIGH 753 40TH TDF ANNIVERSARY MODEL

I know, there's a little collection of half decent Raleigh frames in my garage crying out for a nice shade of rouge, If only I'd got my backside in gear in the spring. I did do a ladies one a while ago for our lass to use and this is the only picture I have of it sadly because that really did...

I know you look away for a second and there's another several pages added, I've consumed that much popcorn reading this one I'm scared I won't actually fit back on my bike.

    Ribble 531 Competition Raw Steel

Nice job How have you got on with the Lidl clearcoat? And have you put a coat over the black on the forks? I've found the only clearcoats with any real damage resistance are 2K based ones unless I bake it or leave it a very very long time (I'm talking months) before I attempt any assembly

The faded Caramel beast......'82 Raleigh Gran Sport

Re: I'd be very interested to hear how you get on with them at that price. And yes I'm Whitstable so with a couple of pairs of binoculars on a clear day we could probably wave at each other from our respective beaches.

The faded Caramel beast......'82 Raleigh Gran Sport

The frames really looking lovely, well done that man And there does seem to be a huge price range in chroming, I know from the quotes I've got at this end of the country I'm finding the same as @sherlylock so thus far I haven't had anything chromed in a while and the one place that would have...

The HiFi chat, build and modification thread!

I'm always wary when offering an opinion on Linn kit in general as it's akin to a religious cult in some quarters but that would be my assessment of pretty much every Linn product I've ever owned, and the ones I have liked the sound of have generated me far more money when I've sold them than I...
