    BB Spindle length

Based on the inconclusive info I can find, I'd go 118mm and go narrower from there if needed. https://forum.cyclinguk.org/viewtopic.php?t=24184 https://sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html

    Good work! Glad that's resolved.

    Paramount headset cups very loose

Is it possible that it's an ISO diameter headtube that's been fitted with a JIS standard headset? https://sheldonbrown.com/cribsheet-headsets.html

    It's superb. Love it.

    My bikes....

That's fantastic. Those riders were tough. Everything must have been so new and exciting. Only just over a decade since the Rover safety bicycle and 10 years after Dunlop's pneumatic tyre. (Most of my t shirts are older than that, let alone my bicycles.) Love the Higgins.

    Spa Cycles Audax

I was thinking of the bike but stilt-walking jugglers are always welcome 😂

Sounds amazing. Do you have a pic or two?

And that frame in metallic bronze looks very smart too...

    Spa Cycles Audax

Thank you. Yes, 30mm. I might be able to use them with full length mudguards, though not if mud was involved as the clearance would be super tight and they would clog immediately. Mudguards or no mudguards is a subject that will need some deliberation.

    Spa Cycles Audax

Thanks. I'm really impressed with the frame - feels quality and well finished. Agree about the steel fork. It fits with the 'bike for life' ethos I was going for, hence wanting to spend some time trying out different component sets before finalising it. Yes, I'll certainly post it in the Not...

    Spa Cycles Audax

Here's my work-in-progress Spa Cycles Audax, not yet road tested. It's the product of wanting to get a sturdy modern Reynolds steel frame with slightly tighter angles than my touring and mountain bikes that can still handle a mix of surfaces. Spa were typically helpful and swapped out the...

    1991 (?) Jamis Dakota

Green and gold fade could look good. Gold decals on the green. Or blue with white or silver/metallic grey. My bikes are all very boring colours so you should probably take these suggestions with a big pinch of salt ;). XT will always go well.

    1991 (?) Jamis Dakota

Missed this thread somehow. I really like Jamis frames / bikes and this is great. Also like your component choices. Gold decals and silver rims? I wonder if a deep blue metallic as a main colour would look good.

Bottom bracket fitting problems, help needed

I've no killer solution but have experienced the exact same thing: UN5x wouldn't go whereas a BB with separate steel cups went in fine. Threads appeared ok. I couldn't work out if the BB shell might have been a fraction out of round. If it had been a frame I was attached to and really wanted...

A Tale of Two Dave Quinns

Dave Quinn from The Bike Factory in Chester was also super-helpful when I got in touch with him, though his response has kept the mystery going. I hadn't included anything in my email about my DQ1 > DD Enterprises idea, or contact with Dave Marsh and Rick Powell. Dave Q nevertheless suggested...

    Retrobike Touring.

Even with dynamo and/or solar, a power brick that can be charged whilst also charging a phone through it is a good idea for stops (overnight or otherwise) where there's a power socket available. Fairly heavy but reassuring to have.

Same here. Powder coat and Vinyl Cut decals from H Lloyds. No problems.

    Highlander bike??? Fillet brazed frame

This is lovely. If it's a frame from somewhere in Asia and there's a frame number you could compare to those here: "Asian Serial Number Guide - Bike Forums" https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/1042901-asian-serial-number-guide.html Might provide a clue.
