Show us your old CHEAP stuff!

I really want to see pics of those Ozarks! I remember a mate had one in '88 and I was so jealous because it was £30 more expensive than my Ridgeback (all important to a schoolboy) and had Exage Mountain kit on it instead of my Exage Trail. I thought it was the most awesome bike I'd ever seen...

Show us your old CHEAP stuff!

There's lots of chat here about exotica that we dreamed of as kids in the 80s and 90s, and many of us now own those dreams as grown-ups. But what about the bikes we really rode and loved in the old days? Those are where the memories are. Show us your Raleigh Ozarks and Techniums...

    Pace RC 36 disc mounts?

You're right, these do suffer from air loss, but I've recently stripped them down and liberally greased round the inside of the seals so they're a bit better now. Thanks for the tips on disc use - if any mounts ever surface I'll snap them up because I don't want to replace this beautiful fork.

Did i just miss out on the zaskar bargain of the century?

Hmm... Sorry if I'm being negative, but often when someone's selling something desirable on ebay and doesn't know anything about it I smell a rat. I don't know anything about this particular seller but if I were the owner of one of the most desirable bikes of its day then I'd have more to say...

    Pace RC 36 disc mounts?

Here's a puzzler: I've got a Pace RC36 fork which was the one you could specify either with V-brake mounts or a disc mount (I think it was Hope compatible). It was about £400 new in 1999-ish. Stupidly, I only bought the V mounts at the time, and now I'd like to run this fork with discs but...

DT Hugi / S-Works front hub HELP!

Thanks, that sounds plausible! There is a lip on each cone that looks like you could get a good grip on it - I'll get the vice out and see how I get on!

DT Hugi / S-Works front hub HELP!

I've got an S-Works badged DT Hugi front hub (from about 1999, pre-disc) and the cartridge bearings are rumbling and rattling like billy-o. This hub is the one with the "Skraxle" one-piece axle / QR skewer, and the bearings appear to be pressed in so I have no idea how to get them out...

    Show us your bike history..

...Forgot to add - the 1993 Dave Quinn had the most legendary saddle of all time: The red Look Rolls. Like the Selle Italia Rolls with gold rails and back plate, but bright red soft leather and with Look enamelled badging. Could this be the only one of its kind in the world? If I'd known I...

    Show us your bike history..

I only wish I did have photos of some of my old beauties. Here goes: 1980: Raleigh Small Rider (12" wheel and plastic box on the back to keep my Fruit Pastilles in) 1986: Puch Magnum BMX with yellow mag wheels and gold everything else 1988: FIRST MTB - Ridgeback 602 SIS (grey fade Cr-Mo...

    Most amazing saddle in history

Will have to get round to photographing it - it's hidden in my shed at the moment! I'd never heard of Velobase before - there's nothing like it on there either. I'm quite gutted to have used this thing for so many years now - it could be worth a fortune if I hadn't given it a good ragging...

    Most amazing saddle in history

I've got a red leather Look Rolls saddle - like the Selle San Marco Rolls but smooth bright red leather and with limited edition Look enamel badges, with the usual gold rails and back plate. I got it from a roadie shop in the very early 90s and had it on my mtb for about 10 years. I have...

The 'Introduce Yourself Here' thread II

I've also been lurking about for ages and finally decided to register and get amongst it. Been riding since 1988 (Ridgeback 602 SIS), then upgraded to a Dave Quinn 653 frame and full XT in 1993. That bike is still going strong with slicks as my commuter. Now riding an S-Works M5 hardtail...
