DT Hugi / S-Works front hub HELP!

I've got an S-Works badged DT Hugi front hub (from about 1999, pre-disc) and the cartridge bearings are rumbling and rattling like billy-o.

This hub is the one with the "Skraxle" one-piece axle / QR skewer, and the bearings appear to be pressed in so I have no idea how to get them out! There's no surface for a cone spanner or anything like that.

I know you can buy new cartridges off Ebay for about six quid, but how on earth do I do the job? Prise it with a sharp object? Risky...

well my hugi's (std 240 type) have a cone that you just pull off. Pretty hard to do, need a vice, but should pop off. DOn't know if this is the same on yours, but all the hugi's i've had over the years have this on the rear, so I'd imagine it's similar on the front.

tread carefully though in case i'm very wrong...it has been known.

Thanks, that sounds plausible! There is a lip on each cone that looks like you could get a good grip on it - I'll get the vice out and see how I get on!
