Sorry ... never on here anymore. Its done. I haven't had any time to do a photo shoot of it, or a pile of other bikes I have finished.

    BotM February 2019 - Nominations

Re: Love that Scoboni! Was the painted logo thing an option from salsa or just done on some bikes only? I have had my 85/6 in for paint consultation and they were 100% confident the logos were transfers.

    BotY 2018 Vote now!

Great lot of bikes! My $40 Stumpjumper looks a bit outta place (well $40 stumpy with $100 tires ) The Serotta is my fav for what is is, who made it, and the craftsmanship. It’s a nice touring mtb bike .... cool bit of history. The Gecko is one of the best riders I’ve got. Rides a lot like...

    1994-1996 S-Works Identification

1993 S Works Steal. Really great bikes and that’s my fav colour. Not really that collectible, but maybe the best sleeper/bang for your $$$ vintage mtb out there.

    What’s your lightest <97 MTB

Re: My first Vintage build was a c1992 Wheeler E1 Ti ... around 19 lbs (17 when I went 1 x 8), but I cheated with some modern kit to make that happen. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=262729 My Kestrel CSX was an all retro WW build. It was a rideable 20.4 lbs when I was done. Love this bike...

BotM December 2018 - No Flagship gruppos – The Vote

Re: It just lack of traffic and interest because other platforms have taken over. RB hasn't really branched out enough to use those platforms to draw them here. If you want the BoTM bike and vote count up post the content on IG and the competitors. Show of the winners on IG ... maybe even make...

Just a good ol' 1990 Specialized Stumpjumper

Re: I’ve ridden a ton of bikes from the early 80s to mid 90s. For the most part I find it comes down to a fit thing and brakes for me. Xt, Xtr and XCPro are all great, but even this dx bike shifts pretty darn well (in friction of course). This is a pretty good bike $1 for $1. Sure my Adroit...

Just a good ol' 1990 Specialized Stumpjumper

You always remember your first right? Well this was mine. I got one new in January of 1992 from Cycle Logic in Toronto. It was a demo bike and I got a pretty good deal on it as I recall. I lived on this in the summer of 1992 ... so many great memories and scars. It was stolen when I was 17 and...

Uber Rare One #2 - One Off Titanium

Top tube is crazy on it. Hopefully I can get some details on it from the builder. Ausberger started One Off after he left Merlin and it seems he switched to a hand cycle company in 1997-98. So one offs were made from about 1989-1997. http://mombatbicycles.com/One-Off.htm I was told this was...

Uber Rare One #2 - One Off Titanium

I picked this one up locally last week. It was hanging in my buddy’s shop forever, but I always thought he said it was an “on one” and I never really looked too closely at it. The bike was just filthy ... I was waiting to pick up a frame he was working on for me and looking around ... I...

That Goat was one of the gems of the mombat collection. I’m so glad you got it. I sent pics of that bike to Toxic when he was doing my romax. My buddy got the 83 Mombat goat ... it’s gorgeous as well. Well the Canada Post strike stifled my planned entry leaving me without my preferred grips...

Uber Rare One #1 - 1987-90 [Craig] Cook Designs Mt. Palomar

Re: It’s really nicely made. The BB is a sorta like a cross between a fat chance and Klein pressed bearing BB. The bearings are pressed into a machined shell and those collars keep the Spindle in place. The colour is super fun. Really glossy. Apparently they came in 17” and 19”. This is a...

Uber Rare One #1 - 1987-90 [Craig] Cook Designs Mt. Palomar

Uber Rare One #1 - [Craig] Cook Design Mt Palomar A bit of history ... give it a google for the full story (interesting stuff). The Cook Bros were a massive part of the west coast BMX and MTB scene from the onset. They would eventually sell off the company in the late 80s. Something went sour...
