    84 Fat Chance box crown

I forgot about the jewelry that was attached to the seatpost when I got the bike, was painted black but stripped today and reinstalled. So chrome does have it's place among higher end vintage bikes.

    Just a reminder

Agree with both of you. I don't think I can move that bigger than normal bike for long distances and yes, suspension does set the front higher. I was only trying to make a point of what had happened in 20 years after seeing the 2 bikes side by side and lets celebrate the early years. Check the...

    Just a reminder

Remember when MTB's came on to the scene? I have a bunch of bikes and always working on something. When one bike was done with what I could do on it I set it next to the one I just worked on. I saw this and was really surprised at the differences in geometry. I hope we can all enjoy both worlds...

    95 Kona Hahanna

Brought the bike closer to stock with the original canti brakes and levers, did not care for the V-brakes on this frame. Shifters remain as well as the LX bits because they do look nice on the bike. I did buy this to flip so am hoping with a more modern look and some retro will help sell it...

    84 Fat Chance box crown

I found the spindle from a guy I trade with so installed. Not exactly what I wanted but works perfectly. This part was the last part to finish the bike less the stickers. Sooo, what sticker kit do I need? I'm leaning towards the originals but being 2 years in, not sure.

    Wanted Kona Velocity stem

Here's one with bars and a lot closer to you than me, is why I won't buy it. Does not indicate quill size though. https://www.ebay.com/itm/266356043107

1988 Shogun Prairie Breaker Team Issue

Finally the tires arrived and the rest of the parts are reinstalled. I went with some Amazon cheapies hoping they roll round and not bumpy too bad and was I surprised how true they spin, better than the Terra's I have on a few bikes. I'm still waiting for the right saddle, the WTB is a place...

    95 Kona Hahanna

I saw this on CL about 6 months ago and thought about buying it because the price was good but it was set up as a SS so I waited until he came down on the price. The bike came with the brakes and levers, white bits and Deore crankset. When I arrived to pick up the bike I asked if he still had...

    84 Fat Chance box crown

I did return the chrome bars back to the bike and have installed shifters, levers and grips with some cables fully attached, much to my surprise, it looks fine with all of the other shiny silver bits on the bike. I think of chrome pieces as something on less appreciated bikes and not for top...

    84 Fat Chance box crown

I did strip the paint off of the bars to show the chrome plating as Lucidone suggested, in first pic then I found a stem with 21.1mm quill (not many of these around) and put that on with a set of silver bars, only flats I have left in spares. I'm leaning towards Bullmoose bars sprayed black so...

    1992 Ibis Mojo

Update to the Mojo. Had contacted Scot Nicol about the stickers for this bike, thank you Gil, and I purchased NOS water slides. As Scot said, will be a month or so and that was correct but right at a month they showed up. My small brain thinks stickers, they were completely original, as in water...

    1996 Explosif

Great find. I wish nobody that long journey of what to do with years of paint build up. Looks like original paint and similar to my 94. I have a 94 Hahanna as well but not as green. Anyway, have fun with it and color looks nice.

    84 Fat Chance box crown

Great find. Post a pic or 2 of what you have. I have had a few newer Fats over the years but this older one just has a style to it, fork rocks and the semi brazed frame says Cool. Loving the slack almost 2020's look to the geometry.

    84 Fat Chance box crown

I did pull the bars and removed some paint on the quill area and it looks to be a WIN set of bars so whatever I do will be fine since they are not made by Fat. I will try to get the paint shop to match the color, I have the water bottle cage bolts all painted and matching color as the frame.

    84 Fat Chance box crown

I would have to think it is. It is not a standard 22mm fit but a 21mm fit into the steer tube. I really do not want to blast the red/chrome since I have seen both on bikes but matching paint is way past my abilities. I'm open to options. I think the paint on the bars is in need of some refurb...

    84 Fat Chance box crown

Picked this one up last week in SF of all places. Story is that he went to Boston on vacation and was looking through FB and saw this for sale so he bought it and sent it home before he left. The previous owner was the original and has stored it for about 20 years after riding the crap out of...

1988 Shogun Prairie Breaker Team Issue

Yes, 26 rear, 24 front. I have detailed a few parts and threw the original front wheel with a 26 I had sitting in my garage to see how this thing is going to look. Kinda like a road bike look too it, tall stem, smaller front wheel...hmmm...drop bars would be the way to go, no? Seller was...

1988 Shogun Prairie Breaker Team Issue

A few others I recently picked, one is a gem. Post it later along with the Kona once I get the details in order.

1988 Shogun Prairie Breaker Team Issue

Was looking through the local CL and found this oddball bike. Only reason I say oddball is because it has a 24" front wheel and not 26". Notice the 4 x 6 sticker on the chainstay so I think it's legit. I got the whole bike less the rear wheel for a few dollars, $60 to be exact. All XT M730 build...

    1995 Stumpjumper Flat Red

I saw the post so made me think that this will help in some way. Plus I do like to put bikes I feel are worthy on here once I get them to a place where they can show well. Did you see the 96 I posted a while back? Here it is if you did not...
