    Dynamo light and charger insight

My understanding is that dynamos can be quite spikey and noisy in terms of power output. You'll definitely want something between it and any sensitive phone electronics even if it puts out the right volts/amps. Maybe a charge controller of some kind?

    Getting rid of a mouse

I reported one listing that was still heavy on the mice trapping marketing, most of the rest seemed to have pivoted to focussing on insect control (still bloody cruel). Ebay is even worse. I cannot find a contact point though. edit: you can report each listing to eBay. In fairness, they are...

    Getting rid of a mouse

Clearly a middle class rat of some sophistication. Inclined to be ethically responsible in its food choices, but easily swayed by the prospect of a cheap and nasty sugar rush. Has anyone tried organic vegan pesto?

    Getting rid of a mouse

Great to hear. They are still widely available on Amazon UK though.

    Getting rid of a mouse

Does said neighbour no longer have a mouse problem? Perhaps the sardines have driven them away (to your house).

Money tight but bikes are free...Go figure!

Someone who'd had theirs stolen and/or had no space to store a bike.

Money tight but bikes are free...Go figure!

It takes effort and food to ride a bike though - and humans are evolutionarily wired to waste neither. As soon as we could we were farming and riding horses etc. Today's world has just taken that desire to its logical extreme. We will pay serious dollar for convenience. It is only crazy people...

    Would you ride 150mm cranks?

I think the difference is at the margins. I always used to prefer 175 bitd as they would give that little extra leverage on the near impossible climbs. They are a pain in the ass on some of modern bikes due to lower BBs.

    Getting rid of a mouse

Normal traps baited with almond butter (the missus would never give up any chocolate) have worked well for us. The trick to is eliminate access to all other sources of food and put traps in areas/pathways they are known to take. We, or rather the missus as the house mouser, leave the traps out...

    Bikes and wheely bins

A couple of the bikes in my collection were originally found next to wheelie bins, but never taken a picture of one.

Neon Retro Local Motion 80's 90's frame bag

I remember making one of those pads from pipe insulation.

    Allsop softride powercurve

Always wanted one (or more likely try one!), never even seen one in the flesh. IIRC, there's one casually lying against a wall in the background inside someone's house in a famous 90s movie that escapes me.

The "I'm not doing so well" thread

Many sympathies. One of my friends once encouraged me to treat difficult situations as like an adventure. There will be lows, but perhaps also unexpected highs too. Workwise, they should book you an appointment with occupational health at some point. Between that and a fit note you will be...

Risk ... the aims of mountain biking, the purpose, the vibe ...

Exactly this. You'll rarely find big manmade mountain biking features in the middle of nowhere. They tend to be close to where people live and work. A lot of the land people build trails on is of marginal wildlife benefit when taken in the round (although it can vary a lot - depending on...

I've ridden a bicycle just 9 times in 2024. Nine....

Hand in your retrobike membership card. Sounds like you've spend more time on here than on a bike.

    Bike waste

Great video. I started off being sceptical as I don't think the bicycle industry is the most offensive when it comes to built-in obsolescence, poor recycling, lack of sustainability practices etc. But by the end, I was thinking that the bike industry could lead the way for other industries and...

Sunn Cycloss - a gravel design before it's time?

Had a Sunn Ti Morati frame. Beautiful ride. Flexy in a lovely way.

Hog Tie them Tresspassing E bikers : )

There was a young lad around these parts who was notorious for tagging the same shit meaningless phrase everywhere. He took his own life (which admittedly was very sad), and now he is described as "a talented young artist". No, the little shite wasn't. He probably collectively cost the local...

Wanted Money waiting for a complete 90s steel bike in 19" or 20"

Maybe it is worth short listing brands and/or models you like? and even creating a bit of swipe file/pinterest board. If the Dekerf hits the spot, could be worth adding to it - even if not within your range. You might spot some patterns. I know I like autumnal colours, for example. And...
