    1993 Yokota Silver Peak Tandem

Yesterday morning, I picked up my first tandem! 1993 Yokota Silver Peak SN T92100017 Based on this catalog here, it appears to be all original besides the front tire. These are designated Tange ShockBlades LT, possibly for "Long Travel", or "Lazy Tandem"😂. I've only ever seen an LT...

P2 Titanium fork on FB for sale

I am an admin of the Kona Bicycle Group Facebook Page, among others, so if anyone can provide evidence or proof this user Mark Waldrop Jones is fake, or a scammer, I can take care of it over there. I DM'd him asking about a Ti Velocity stem he said he had, from a different post in another group...

    1991 Trek 990

Back in November, I took this bike on a ~60 mile overnight tour along the Katy Trail in my home state of Missouri. Shakedown ride day before the trip: Fully loaded, at the half way point on the way back: I outfitted it with my old Topeak rack, a small GoRuck duffel, and an Ortlieb...

    1991 Trek 990

I just found this video of the two riders from Rodando Por Ti, and Juanma Montero still has his Trek 990:

    1995 Kona Sex Too

Now that you've seen the good, here's some of the bad and the ugly. The paint is on this stem is excellent, so new decals would make this perfect: The head badge has been worn away by some really poor cable housing routing: The O-Beam seatpost has both a worn logo, and a worn spot around...

    1995 Kona Sex Too

Introducing my latest purchase, John Balmer's 1995 Kona Sex Too. I recently purchased this 1995 Kona Custom Cruiser, from a personal friend of former Kona employee John Balmer. I had originally passed on this one, but I couldn't stop thinking about having all three 'New for 1995' Kona bikes...

    Kona Sex-One

Hey @thundercatrider, do you still by chance have that A25 sill hanging around? I need one for my Sex Too, and there are a few for sale overseas that I can't buy and have shipped to the states. There seems to both be an Amazon listing, and an eBay listing. I've reached out to the eBay seller to...

    135mm rear shock

Hello @thundercatrider! I just bought a Sex Too, and I'm looking for a replacement A25 rear shock. I found the same shock you bought, in a very similar Amazon listing: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Marzocchi-MTB-Shock-Absorber-L-127/dp/B07SKNV8PW Did you end up getting the shock, and if so, how...

    1995 Kona Kapu

After seeing this 52cm from Dave_Mars, I think mine is a 56cm. That frame has hardly any space below the frame pump peg to the down tube weld. If Dave's is 52, then yours is 54, and mine must be 56.

    1995 Kona Kapu

Well then I am curious! I wonder if you have a 54, and I have a 56! I am also attempting to convert inches to centimeters, since I don't have a metric tape measure.

    1995 Kona Kapu

I'm pretty sure I put it on my SM800, based on the decal wear. That definitely looks smaller than mine. If you look at the head tube, at the pump peg, yours looks right in the middle between the top and down tubes. Mine is biased towards the top tube, hence a longer head tube. Especially with...

    1995 Kona Kapu

Thanks! I figured my size based on the top tube length, and the crank length. Top tube measured closer to 55cm, and the cranks are 172.5. I think the larger frames were outfitted with longer cranks. I also compared the head tube length visually with other known Kapu sizes, and it looked too...

1995 Kona Custom Cruiser Stars & Bars

Thank you all so much! I'm happy you're all as excited about this bike as I am! I'm glad you commented @al-onestare! Thank you so much for confirming the age of the frame! I'm glad to have contributed an early cruiser frame to the serial number list. I've admired your attention to detail for...

1995 Kona Custom Cruiser Stars & Bars

This bike started it's life being owned by John Balmer, former employee of Kona. I've been told it was showcased at Interbike, though I'm not sure which year. After Kona, John worked for SRAM, and then Trek/Bontrager, which is where it was likely outfitted with the SRAM Sparc electric wheel kit...

1995 Kona Custom Cruiser Stars & Bars

Shock and awe. That is what I felt when I woke up last Saturday, after receiving an offer for a bike I never thought I would have a chance to buy. I had slept until noon, after riding my Trek 990 until 1 AM with my friends until my Cateye batteries died, and I woke up to a message from my...

    1995 Kona Kilauea

I thought long and hard about how to best replicate the rare paint from '95, and I finally decided I would just need to buy another Kona from '95 that was painted with the same shade of pearl white, and take it to get color matched. Here's what I ended up finding: I'll be posting a build...

1991 Cannondale SM800 Beast Of The East

This bike looks incredible! I noticed one of the original photos shows one of the original orange toe straps. Did you switch to Tioga because you preferred black? Do you still happen to have the orange ones? If so, I'm interested in buying them. I'd like to fit cages and straps to mine, and I've...

1991 Cannondale SM800 Beast Of The East

The marketing story I've heard from a few guys who sold these new back in the day, was this frame design was better suited for the East Coast US style mountain biking.
