1995/96 Norco Team Issue - "Grinch" build thread

I picked up this odd ball Norco Team Issue frame recently. Its a 1995 /1996 frame with the 1999 Team 853 colourway. 95/96 were the only two years that the team hardtails had Ritchey WCS tubing and Ritchey Lost Wax dropouts. In 97 Norco switched to Reynolds 853 on the Team Issue and did away with...

BoTM Bike of The Month timetable and suggestions

Bar end discussion is blowing up on RetroBike. I think I caught the bug... I'm going to replace the fuzzy dice hanging from my trucks rear view mirror with an old set of bar ends!

    Bar ends yay or nay?

How about a guy who ran a marathon in them?

    Bar ends yay or nay?

Bar ends are Crocs for bikes. Ask anyone who wears Crocs, why they wear Crocs and the same answer will be applicable to bar ends

Fair enough. I'll happily do a voodoo dance around a bike carcass

I love Voodoo's. I always have my eye out for a 1996 Bizango but they are rarely seen in on the southwest coast of BC. eBay, Pinkbike and FB listings pop up pretty often in California. That's a nice bike. The orange Bomber Z1 alone would tempt me to negotiate

1995 Kona Cinder Cone restomod build thread

Thanks, Dr Dave, its my "daily driver". 30 speeds, crisp braking and a fun rider. I'm really happy how the Kooka's turned out. Only change I'll make is I'll probably have to mount my SimWorks Homage tires soon for some more corner gripping over the fall leaves and soupy muck and throw on the...

    Yet another lava dome!!! (1994)

Thank you. I like where you are going with this build. SimWorks MowMow would be my vote. That MowMow has a clean and sleak profile for a riser bar that won't take away from the 90's Kona aesthetic. Although built by Nitto, their designs under the SimWorks brand is a level up in the cool factor...

    Yet another lava dome!!! (1994)

How much time do you want to spend on the frame? There is nothing wrong with just scraping as much rust from the chips as you can with a metal pick or dental tool, cleaning with rubbing alcohol and building up a couple coats with enamel based touch up paint or nail polish (lacquer), both of...

    1996 Kona Cinder Cone

Yes and no. SimWorks is its own company that designs and outsources the manufacturing to Nitto and other companies depending on the component

    1996 Kona Cinder Cone

I'm not sure there would be an easy way to put a super curvy handlebar like the Surly Open bar in a velocity stem without some serious bending open of the clamp. 31.8mm 2 bolt clamp stems give you a ton of choices for "alt" handlebars with nice backsweep, rise or even going with moto style bars...
