    Romax Rescue...

Nice, I use to follow Paul channel. Sice the 90´s I use to close all the holes and if it is steal, take out the seat post for storage and avoid moisture inside the tubes ... I Idon´t live in UK so rust is not a Issue in modern but in old.

Would you ride these - eXotic carbon handlebars

I will never save money in stem or handle bar, I like my teeth. I bought some chinese ones and they are strong but have faults so I have cut them ... The tickness was not consisent so probably they will not fail but ... I will not clear the doubt. So I bought a Ritchey superlogic and ... it is...

    XT M739 v STX RC V Brakes ?

The 5.0 has a much better finish in the arms and arch. It is worth to go with the 5.0 but mine was rear and front so not choice. It is like the LX and XT. The 5.0 was close to the SD7 in the arms and the 4.0 was a SD5 with an arch.

Difference between modern Rigid MTB and Gravel

I don´t like gravels with tradicional road angles or close, I still apreciate the geometry of a MTB in dirt roads, and a flat handlebar or bull horn for tricky sections. So I made something different, not gravel, but with 650b and 42 tires ... I like it and I don´t care the trend. Now full...

    26" skinny knobblies?

You Will need a adaptor to move the cantilever or V brakes if you go 27.5. But it Will work fine with 27.5 and 42, similar as 26- 2.1 You do not need more power if you put skinny tires

    26" skinny knobblies?

I would go to 27,5” rimbrakes wheel set with 650-42 and a clasic frame. They are equivalent to 26”-2,2 tires. Mine not retro but plenty of space … WTB tire 27.5-42 in a 26” frame No modification of 📐 geometry

    26” frame, 27.5 wheels?

All 26 can fit a 27.5 “ with 650-42 tires … because they are near equivalent. If you buy some rimbrakes wheel set 27.5 you have to move the brakes too. This is mine, a 27.5 gravel tire in a 26” frame. Lot of clearance:

    Anybody got Specialized Sirrus X?

Pffff 750 euros for that (X2.0). Nop, I would go for a Peugeot or other brand that gives more for that money. Pro max is in cheap bicycles arround 350-400 euros, not that price. The rest all chinese, like the frame. You pay for the brand. I said that owning a Sworks that would look like that...

Sloping top tube query for sizing

Marins of mid 90s have a long top tube, specially if you go to the top of the range. You have to check the table, insted of C-C if you check the C-T, it will match better, with slooping the C-C is not the best way. C-C in marins are quite low and cand be a bit cofusing. In Marin I use 1" less...

    Ringle Chinese Skewer Repros

A repro for a collector? That is not a collector. I will go for some Hope instead of that copy ... Well, I went for Hope. It is like buying a replica frame ... or handlebar. Sometimes works fine, sometimes a dentist is required, who knows (alibaba, aliexpres etc rules). 🤷‍♂️ Other thing is...

Suitable Suspension fork for a 1990s Marin Team MTB

The problem is the frame, that is a early 90s one. It looks good with a early Manitou. But you have more options. You have Pace, and many other weird suspensions like this AMP. I haven´t tried any of this. https://es.wallapop.com/item/horquilla-suspension-amp-844406250 And you can go for the...

Suitable Suspension fork for a 1990s Marin Team MTB

I haven´t seen the photo before. I would go for something like this. For road is ok, fresh elastomers in ebay etc. https://es.wallapop.com/item/horquilla-answer-manitou-comp-ano-1995-780465382

Suitable Suspension fork for a 1990s Marin Team MTB

Wich marin do you have? Grey colour or steel. I have the 96 Team Issue and I tested both, the Manitou Mach 5 that comes in stock and the Z2 Atom bom. The Mach 5 is quite lightweight, 1.2kg or even a bit less, the Z2 has better performace. But with fresh elastomers the Mach 5 is ok, it doesn´t...
