Sold Full set XTR M-950 V Brakes. £80?

These came with my Formula 1. Look basically unused, very tight linkages, all bolts, but no noodles. I am not an expert in this age so I am not sure if the pads are original. What they worth? Offers around £80? I will be listing some other parts from that bike; 1” RC31s, Renthal carbon Fatbar...

    1990 Lemond TVT92 Giro D’Italia replica

From eBay in France. The funny thing was I couldn’t find a set with a sensible width so settled for a set advertised as 44cm. When they arrived they were 40cm, perfect! Stupidly I let a NOS, boxed set go because I thought they were too pricy at $100, stupid, stupid.

1990 Lemond bike bottle cage identification

Thanks for that. I looked at those early on but discounted them due to the double thickness tube on the top ] It appears they are OMAS, Cobra or a custom TA based on the older Criterium cage (he was sponsored by TA at the time and used other types of TA cage throughout the giro and tour). I...

rBoTM RBotM November 2024 - Open Month - Entries Now Open!!!!!

Can I enter my 1990 TVT92 Lemond Giro D’Italia replica? This is the top bike on my hit-list of must have retro road bikes. This was built up to match, part for part, Greg Lemond’s 1990 Giro D’Italia Z Vetements TVT. I’ve only ridden it up and down the road a few times, saving it for nicer...

One of a kind Lee Cooper E-stay

I know this through experience of a previous build…

One of a kind Lee Cooper E-stay

That’s a mad frame, can’t want to see it built up Don’t think that will ever work in this frame. Rollercams need a lot more room at the top and they need a central cable pull. This one looks like it’s U brake only unfortunately

    1990 Lemond TVT92 Giro D’Italia replica

Thanks all for the kind comments. This is such a big tick on my list of ‘bikes to own before I die’. Robert Miller, Sean Kelly and Cavendish reps are also on that list, but this was always number 1.

    1990 Lemond TVT92 Giro D’Italia replica

Admission, I do love a good road bike. I don’t venture over here as often as I do in the MTB section but I do love a good road bike. But this is my first one posted here, so be gentle! As with all my bikes, I really love the ones that bring back memories, and as I started riding properly in the...

Roberts White Spider & Serotta Proflex

I’m thinking of thinning out a little as I have been in build mode this year. I’m a little rusty on sale prices as I’m not really a sale person… First is the Roberts. This was a total restoration umpteen years ago and since then it’s sat unused but stared at constantly. Chrome dropouts front...

Try to find what's the frame

Not Marin. Looks to be a fairly low end frame judging by the rack mounts, kick stand mount and dynamo bracket. Not worth a lot, would build into a heavy but solid bike

    Sold Blue Tech Lite levers

They are canti but, with fine tuning, can be used with v brakes. They have got a long pivot point compared to levers like diacompe ss5s or similar. I used them for a while on Vs back in the 90s before switching to dedicated kooka V levers

    Custom head badges

UK no, but I’ve used Jen Green in the US, she’s amazing. This is the one she did for my other half’s bike. It’s her cat: Now that it’s weathered in, the colours now all match the cat’s colours perfectly

    They are lovely levers though!

    Sold Blue Tech Lite levers

Pretty sure they are 1st gen, identifiable by the fact that there’s no cable slot down the length of the lever. Second gen had a cable slot and printed logos, third had a 3 position lever slot. The other thing is the tight tolerances which they were famous for. The only way to avoid that is to...

    Bar ends yay or nay?

There were a few, Paul’s made them popular with the Chim Chims, then Kona with Dr Dewey’s and various others like Tektro. For me Bar ends were from a time when people were switching from Road/Cross to MTB. Bar ends plus narrow bars emulated the riding on the hoods position that most roadies...

    Bar ends yay or nay?

Moots introduced theirs in 1985 and Onza theirs in 1989, so not really a mid 90s thing. I remember using welded steel Onzas from 1990 onwards, initially the wedge ones and later the cinch ones

Any Italian members able to help out a Brexited Brit?

Off chance bump, just in case anyone can help!

Any Italian members able to help out a Brexited Brit?

Thanks for that, I have my eye on that too! The big issue with these is when they get corrosion on the rivets or rails - once it sets in, it’s so hard to fix as if you polish it it all comes off and you’re back to silver. That Italian one just looks in great condition, matches the condition of...

Any Italian members able to help out a Brexited Brit?

I’ve found a perfect saddle for a build (Lemond 1990 Giro D’Italia TVT92) but it’s on a website that only allows people with Italian phone numbers to register. Any chance one of our lovely Italian members could reach out to the seller and see if the saddle is still available and either buy it...
