    Interesting stem with roller

Just about to put one of these back on a Peugeot Black Mamba https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/peugeot-black-mamba-buff-up.457720/post-3376680

Interesting stem…. was a bit scruffy unfortunately so I’ve lost the original finish.

Many thanks @geb257 It will definitely get moved on, since I haven't got room for it. I normally just put a bit of money and effort into tidying these up, then donate them to the Bike Start charity. Will keep you posted once I get it finished. Don't hold your breath... probably still a few...

After reading @Peachy! excellent thread on saddle repair I've bought the kit and have been waiting for the right saddle to come along. If the great man himself sees this, any ideas what to do with the holes on either side of the saddle? I asked the team at the Leather Repair Company who were...

Also thinking I may live to regret the following when I ham-fistedly try to get 28 x 3/32" ball bearings back into the pedals.

I'd planned to build the rear wheel this morning, but annoyingly didn't have the right length spokes so put that off for a bit. Did some polishing instead...

Thanks very much for the comment. The workshop is definitely not to everyone's taste though. I struggle a bit with mess, so it is my safe space :) The rims are the originals... Mavic Oxygen M6. Having been over the entire bike I think the only bits I will need to replace are the spokes...

Spokes could probably have passed muster but would have nagged away at me, so wheels are getting rebuilt...

Headset, BB and a slightly bent derailleur hanger sorted out first...

    Peugeot Black Mamba (finished)

Frame came up quite nicely after a polish and wax. Very little rust, but lots of paint chips which I've left alone.

Friend was having a garage clear out before Christmas, so this got passed on for a general tidy up before deciding what to do with it. As usual, forgot to take a shot of the bike before I started stripping it down. Was in a fairly unloved state, but hopefully the issues are surface deep and...

We just got an etching machine!

Looks brilliant, what is the machine?

    Fixed cup removal (with pics)

Thanks very much for the kind words :) Original article by Sheldon Brown: LINK @novocaine That's a stunt cup, I refuse to accept it as real. Weird huh? That's exactly what I thought. @Splatter Paint Am I right that this relies on the friction between the tool and the cup? Yes, exactly...

No damage whatsoever to the fixed cup.

    Fixed cup removal (with pics)

Fixed cup concedes you are too clever for it and removes itself to reveal the horrors inside the bottom bracket.

Once tightened sufficiently, put your back into the breaker bar turning clockwise, removing adjustable wrench obviously 🤓

    Fixed cup removal (with pics)

Tighten the hex bolts to clamp the fixed cup between the steel tube (inside BB) and penny washers (outside BB).

    Fixed cup removal (with pics)

Fit the tool together inside the bottom bracket. The steel tube should extend out of the non-drive side slightly.

Slightly upgraded Sheldon Brown tool: - 100mm M16 hex head bolt (or the biggest diameter you can get, which will still fit through fixed cup hole) - M16 hex nuts - M16 penny washers - 75mm length of thick wall steel tube with inner diameter approx. 1-2mm larger than the bolt, i.e. 17-18mm in...

    Fixed cup removal (with pics)

Guaranteed I'm not telling anyone anything new with this post, but for the sheer satisfaction of removing a very, very fixed bottom bracket cup I'm going to post up a few pics of my Sheldon Brown fixed cup remover. The fixed cup in question... defiantly refusing to move even a gnat's chuff after...
