Next up was sorting out the front fork. Slight recap on the photo front first with varying stages of undress. Unhook bellow from bellow retaining ring and pop out the retainer plug.. Extract compression spring and large amounts of congealed grease. Reveal assembly which holds steerer tube...

Many thanks for the kind words. My only experience is with Aurora Powder Coaters in Aldershot. I’ve had a few frames done by them and I think they are excellent. The cost for the frame, rear fork, front fork and rack came to £125, which I think is pretty competitive. They have a *lot* of work...

His contact details and prices are at the following link: https://www.moultonbuzz.com/preservation/ I’ve got an email address for him, but wouldn’t put it on the internet without his say so. If you have any problems getting hold of him, send me a message 👍

The fork was in pretty good shape actually. The bike obviously didn’t have such a hard life. There weren’t any cracks apparent once I’d stripped the paint, but the rebrazing would have sorted any issues & also strengthens that area. The chap who does the work is Gary Hall, as recommended by...

The rear hub is 120mm OLD, but the rear forks were only 116mm and more than a bit wonky. Therefore they got sent of to a chap called Gary who provides a fantastic service to rebraze Moulton rear forks to the OLD of your choice, unwonkying them in the process. This is where I realise my pictures...

    Moulton Standard M1 1965 (finished)

The front hub (Sturmey Archer GH6 Dynohub) was rusted to bits internally, plus both the front and rear rims were also too far gone. The rear Sturmey FW 4-sp hub has gone in the parts bin to fight another day. New mini-wheels were built up with Sun CR18 rims, a 36h Sturmey X-RF4 4-sp rear and a...

Rear suspension was a massive PITA to remove requiring a blowtorch, hammers of increasing size, a variety of swear words and finally a hacksaw and multipack of carbide drill bits...

This has been a slow burner, but I've made a bit of progress recently so I thought I'd put a few pics up. It was bought as a "project" at the Moulton club meet at The Hall in Bradford-on-Avon about a year ago. The serial numbers K65 and 160064 indicate it was built in the Kirkby factory in 1965...

Finished (almost). The keen eyed among you will spot a missing front brake 🙄 Quite pleased how it turned out though.

Crankset has come up nicely. There is a gouge you can see in the pic which was just too deep to get rid of. I tried to leave them with a slight satin finish rather than blindingly bright polished chrome effect. I'm sure I knew it somewhere in the back of my brain, but was briefly befuddled by...

Spokes for the rear wheel turned up during the week so got that built this morning. Really impressed with the Mavic rims. They are very unfussy to build up. Hit even tension around the entire rim without really have to do much.
