Kona Titanium Serial Number List - update 05/11/24

All other Kona scores do have a gusset. Yours is likely THE catalog frame, oddities being no gusset, and a King Kahuna serial, so likely a very early score as even a king kahuna has down tube gussets is addition to top tube..

Bike you've let go, but wish you'd kept?....

Yep, if only I had more room.

18" Kona Score. One of 3? Potentially 10 out there. (Already on Al's serial list)

    Fishlips Toxic Tuna

Would a Titus FCR do? Just about the same frame... Nevermind, thought the toxic tuna was the fishlips ti :(

    2000 Kona Score Titanium

XTR M950, Thomson & CK... All mounted on a sweet ti frame. Propper build for the discerning bar hopper! Love the bars and shifters man, clever & cool!

    2000 Kona Score Titanium

Can't thank you enough Ben, such a unicorn for me. It's been a pleasure to build, ride and have in my home. Can't leave us hanging, gotta share a pic of the twisted spokes Obed :)

Ultimate TI 26" disc braked hardtail frame

Looking great & fast! You're going to need a bigger front ring!

    XT Rapidfire shifter, not shifting.

I just continue to spray with WD40 until they work again. Sometimes it's 1 application, sometimes it's 10. I just know if I open em up I'll never get em back together again.

    Stem/bar length these days?

Only if it's before July 1st. After that I typically do ankle to knee with the width of my head. Or you can just ride the bike and adjust length and rise for preference. I tried the arm and finger trick and the finger tip was only about 15mm-25mm beyond the stem topcap bolt on the old and new...

    2000 Kona Score Titanium

Took the bike out for another 30 mile ride, popping and pinging all the way, only under load. If I got out of the saddle and hammered on the pedals it would also cease. Hubs, spokes, maybe a needle bearing in the hub....Nope Kind of embarrassed at what the "wheel noise" solution was...

    2000 Kona Score Titanium

Thanks for the compliments on the Score, it's a really nice bike, and yes I should really wear the 2nd ear bud. Still might add some extra grease to the CK needle bearings and see if that quiets things down... almost sounds like a crunchy bearing, but that shouldn't be the case as I just did a...

    2000 Kona Score Titanium

Got around to installing the Raceface Next LP's & the Raceface Signature Isis Ti BB.... definitely the better look. Have put a good couple hundred miles on the pavement so far. Loving it, the tires are a little slower than I'd like, and the seat... well it's no WTB Ti Volt, and the Snowflake...

Do you think we'll ever see a Shimano/Mavic/FSA/Fox/Michelin/wahoo type business cluster one day?

I hope not. I like Shimano, FSA and mavic... Not so much. About the only thing they all have in common (fox excluded) is an inability to innovate in a timely manner. Poor old Mavic, Michelin and FSA are barely relevant in the MTB scene now.

Uh oh. Did I just purchase a pair of fake $200 carbon handlebars?😕

$200 on FSA carbon bars? Damn... it's a good thing you posted here, that could have been embarrassing. You can cut carbon bars down to any width you like (assuming it's narrower than the bar bought). You can get some Enve flat bars for about the same price, or a ton for less than half. Titanium...

    Braided Vs standard disc hose?

Braided hoses are a great way to ruin your paint. Unless they are coated. Had a set of old M755's with non coated braided hose. Not a fan, a little more flexible than standard hose & they got caught between my kona stinky link & the seat QR. Did a nice 7' to flat drop, cable got cut and that was...

Alternative To Shimano Square Taper Bottom Brackets...... Which ones to go for, Token, Tange etc. ??

If you want long term reliability with a 10 year warranty SKF makes a great square taper, but it isn't cheap. https://www.renehersecycles.com/shop/components/bottom-brackets/skf-bottom-bracket-jis-square-taper/
