Best Marin steel frame from the 90's is?

Not every year they weren't, the 90 Muirwoods was mostly hi-ten steel for example.

    Wanted Orange vit t

As far as I’m aware the one from Colne that was on eBay a few months ago is still available? It had a disc tab added by Hope and was a bit spendy at £400+ for the frame but I was told it was available for less now. I’ll see if I can find it.

Best Marin steel frame from the 90's is?

Early 90’s saw a race to see who could produce the lightest bikes and parts. Look at how much difference there was in weight each year on something like the Pine Mountain, between 89 and 95! It was pushed too far though (not necessarily by Marin) and stuff started to fail so weight went back up...

    90 Marin Palisades...£29! Plus muriwoods £30.

Won an Orange E2 for £25 (only bid) the other day. Pictures weren't the best but even so, I was surprised I won!

Great Malverns retro article on Singletrackworld.

Bums, didn’t realise that! It’s basically a chat with a bloke who scored a big haul of retro gold, including a lovely Brave. Plenty of pictures.

    Help me identify this orange…..

Maybe a Big T, or was it Mr T from the mid 2000’s? Sat below the 22x, above the Patriot.

Manitou Answer Easton E9: is it worth anything?

It wasn't unusual for old stock to be used up on newer bikes back then, Saracen did it all the time. Marin released 1990 bikes in the 1991 frame colour as well. Plenty of anomalies out there for yours to be not that much of a puzzle mate. Also, as mentioned above the frame may be a 94 built in...

Manitou Answer Easton E9: is it worth anything?

1994 model year bikes would have been made from mid 1993 onwards as the next model year usually started around Autumn the previous year, to catch the Christmas market. Manitou forks were certainly an option available from new on Marin's from that time so no reason to think they were not...

    1995 Team Marin reimagined: Bumblebee

Ace, thanks for that. I'm after an 89 Pine Mountain to do a similar job with, same as the UK 89 Team bikes.

Why are thumb shifters so prized in the retrobike community?

All has been said really, the Deore and XT thumbies especially were bomb proof and the pinnacle of development. The first STI were not great so plenty stuck with thumb shifter. By the time they were fazed out (1994ish?) STI was becoming decent although IMO it took another 10 years before it was...

Lovely. I’d keep it original as it looks tidy enough.
