Frame identification - possible MKM Ultimate?

There were some built in Liverpool after the demise of MKM in Harrogate but not sure who by. I must admit that this does look like a very late build with the concealed cables - but are they a later addition? The removal of the DT lever boss looks a bit crude and the cable accesss holes in the...

    ** Mountain Mayhem 2022 - ITS ON ! (in a fashion)

Pat is very pleased with how the event panned out. Next year will hopefully be a bit bigger with more categories and possibly distance/time. Alex (his son) is now the main man but Pat does have some input and the two of them come up with some really good ideas. A better RB representation next...

World Masters Cycling Championships (with Vintage WC) in St. Johann, Austria, 18-22 August 2022

Lucky you, I've always fancied riding this after visiting it in the late '80's when we were holidaying in Austria. Well run and lots of international flavour. Enjoy!

    Road Frames c.1975-85.. Un-vague us!

How much!!!!! Knock several 0's off. It's nice - but not that nice. I had one, sold it to a 'friend' (I didn't get on with the bike, it didn't ride anywhere near as well as the hype suggested) who pestered me for it and I sold it to him for a LOT less than that. Next time I saw it (not all...

Frame ID - Victor Seat Lugs Carlton? Holdsworth?

My Bill Grey built Dave Russel from 1973 has the seat stays attached in a similar way to yours. Bill built for several London area brands but I wouldn't say definitely it's one of his. Whatever, it's a very nice frame.

Lovely frames. The detailing is superb. Thanks for showing them to us.

    Rivola frame

A brand I've never come across before but I certainly knew of Chiesa because of Gimondi riding them early in his career. The bikes and frames shown above are lovely, such attention to details such as the seatstay, chainstay and fork ends. Not seen anything quite like that before. Thanks for...

    Presta Valve Pump

Classic period correct pumps can quite often be found at cycle jumbles. I've got several in slightly different sizes to fit my frames - all of which are nominally the same size but the pumps disagree!

Campagnolo early Gran Sport derailleur setup

I would say that Keith's suggestion is a distinct possibilty. There should be a spring steel washer with the 'oval' cutout to go on first, then the thick chromed washer with the domed inner face and then the securing screw. Later versions of the Campag DT lever seem to have a plastic 'inner'...

    Vitus 979 Restoration

Ooops! Sounds nasty, glad you're basically OK. Not experienced any handling problems with mine thankfully but I did have a related occurence a couple of years ago when riding in bright sunlight. I rode into an area of full shade under a tree. My eyes didn't immediately react - and there was...

Simplex free hub springs - help needed

I would add that if it is a quick release hub then use the skewer and tighten the 'nut' end down onto the freewheel remover tool - but only enough to hold it in place (VEERY slightly loose) to give it room to move once the initial tightness is gone. This will help to alleviate damage to the...

    Vitus 979 Restoration

My Duralinox Vitus 979 is probably from around 1986 and was raced in time trials for several years by the previous owner who took great care of it. I think it was originally purchased as a 'Peugeot' one but Harry never fitted the decals. It came to me with a chainset, brake stirrups, seat pin...
