Thanks again for your replies, I didn't realise the weight of the Marathons, but still think I'll need the puncture proof tyres. There is a lot of flail / hedge cutting alongside the cycle paths done here and also a few local piss-heads think it's fun to smash their bottles along the pathway.

I've got a Cannondale Quick hybrid bike that is fitted with Kenda Happy Medium, 700x35c tyres. At the moment I am only every cycling on tarmac & not ever really likely to do any off road riding. I'm thinking of maybe changing my tyres to the Schwalbe Marathon Plus, not sure what size, but...

Update for anyone interested - I had a 220 mile round trip to Drakes Cycles in Leeds. Very helpful staff there & they had both choices in stock and they were still assembling them for me when I got there. Came home with a nice new Quick CX2

Thanks for your replies :) - think I will have to do some travelling to find a dealer with them in stock. I live on the North Wales coast, but none of the closer dealers have got them in stock & it looks like there are no more CX2 available in stock for them. Maybe I will have to start looking...
