Yet another Abominable Snowman FRO Pro*

Re: Cool and interesting frame. Seat tube isn't sleeved and the guides aren't riveted. Pretty early to have the "Pro" designation.

    1992 Yeti Ultimate (camo content)

Ahh. Ok. I missed that detail, and yeah, it's def a factory repair. The bikes that had the seat collars as an OG spec weren't sleeved and were 93->. FWIW, I'd consider this a 1990. Beautiful repaint, and an amazing build. It's not as wild west as legend has it. Yes, early, early bikes (FROs)...

    1992 Yeti Ultimate (camo content)

Thanks! That's interesting. Can you tell me what info you have that says this is a 92? I ask, because Ultimate serial numbers are surprisingly reliable for dating, and I know U1419 is September 1991. That suggests yours shouldbe about 1990 with a second gen headbadge

    1993 Yeti ARC

Hi all, The Yeti ARC "grey" isn't paint or powder. It's the raw material that's been beadblasted and then clearcoated. The "flake" that you're referring to is the metal coming through. Too hard of a beadblast = too much flake = too sparkly. The Pro FROs that were grey were powder coated...

    91 Yeti Ultimate

Re: Nicely built. Like the ride description too. Its exactly how I feel about mine. Curious what the serial number is? Is that original paint? Thanks!

    1989 specialized epic

Re: Re: No, it's #2. Serial number is 002. Built late 87. He specifically requested cantilevers. I think the frame in the auction is even later, like 91. My 1990 has the early version of the chainstays with the extended steel "Lug", not the updated ones that offered better clearance and a...

    Kona Hei Hei 1989/90 19"

Re: Re: Hey Pierre! Early to me would indicate a Merlin frame, which would have Merlin dropouts. The ones on this bike are clearly Sandvik. A Merlin frame would also have a pressfit BB and a TBG decal.
