Are there any places people can suggest that I can look at to buy various screws etc? I was looking over the bikes and there are some that probably should be replaced, a couple missing and I should probably have a small stock anyway. thanks

I've changed the rear dérailleur on my Dawes Wildcat, adjusted it (nearly) and test rode it. I need some minor adjustments and it will be ok. With the bike on the stand it gave me a chance to have a look at what needs doing. I would quite like to keep it rideable while I do most of the work...

I have lost confidence in my LBS, as they don't seem to do a very good job and I have had to take the bikes back several times to get a fault sorted. I used to do most things myself, but it takes time. It would also be nice for me to restore the Dawes to what it was when I bought it, or better...

The advice here is quite useful and thanks to the contributers so far and any future ones. It does seem that most(all?) of the people on the forum are experts and remember loads of the bikes around in the 80s and 90s. I bought my Dawes Wildcat new and never looked for another bike as it went...

Re: Re: Yes, but it needs a bit of repair and maintenance and as I am not a bike expert it will go slowly and I need a replacement in the meantime. I might also think of upgrading various parts, which means reading about compatible better parts, or asking on here.

hi, I need to replace the rear dérailleur on my Dawes Wildcat and am looking for suggestions of suitable replacements. It is a Shimano Exage. Any potential problems I should know about?
