Advice required regarding disk brake and hubs

You will need disc specific hubs. In the past there have been various pcd's and number of bolts, but generally speaking, most hubs you find will be the regular 6 bolt or centre lock. You will have a wide choice of rotors available in either option. When you decide on the size of disc you want...

    Canyon Team Titanium (Build completed)

Ok so I have done just over 300 miles on it now. It really is fantastic to ride. I have made a couple of changes, the guide clamps turned up recently that go in the cable stops for hydraulic hoses, so no more cable ties on the top tube. Last week I managed to slice open the rear tyre on a bit...

Do you buy your bikes to ride or just look at?

It depends how it rides. I have around 5 or 6 bikes I like riding, 3 I ride most of the time. The rest just sit there unused. I have decided the unused ones are wasted and will be sold as soon as I get a chance/can be bothered. (one or two may possibly be just flat-packed and stored in the...

    The best retro E-Stay frame.

Wheeler 6800 Comp Line A good quality e-stay that is also strong and usable. Very rare in UK but they are about in Mainland Europe, 2 of my Wheelers came from Poland.

Why do you collect retro bikes?

I like the look of old bikes. I love collecting bits and bobs. I tend to like the weird, ugly or just plain rare. I sometimes enjoy riding old bikes so it all comes together quite well really. Also like many others, I can buy the stuff I used to dream of as a kid, but for not a lot of money...

IS IT ONLY ME THAT LIKES COIL & ELASTOMER FORKS?

Re: Re: Its very easy, you can even go on the manufacturers website for recommended pressures and rebound settings, then you can experiment with them from there to feel exactly how you want. If you just borrow someone else's set up for a bit, it might not feel right. But there is no need to...

IS IT ONLY ME THAT LIKES COIL & ELASTOMER FORKS?

Replace the shock with elastomers and see how good it feels? But seriously anything like this can develop a fault, there are thousands produced and there are bound to be some that develop faults.

IS IT ONLY ME THAT LIKES COIL & ELASTOMER FORKS?

I like my old elastomer forks, I have quite a few and ride them often. I also own and get to ride a lot of modern forks. There is simply no comparison. The faster and harder you push the more you will notice a difference.

    Canyon Team Titanium (Build completed)

Still putting a couple of finishing touches to this. Salsa qr was a lucky find, fitted Ti bolts in the stem, red Garmin mount matches the ESI grips perfectly and the red end crimps turned up.

    Kinesis Maxlight XC M970

Back in 2007 I was itching to buy the new M970 XTR, all the reviews I read rated it apart from the brakes. I used Avid Juicy 5's thinking after a couple of years I would buy an improved version. It turns out time was not kind to the juicy brakes, most people don't have a good word to say...

    Kinesis Maxlight XC M970

I've had this a while, its my go to bike I pretty much use daily and I love it. Just realised I didn't really have any photos of it. Quite a few years back I cracked the headtube on my Scott Scale so I started thinking about what frame to go for next. So the XC Three frame was bought from AJ...

Mountain Mayhem Returns 2019 let the planning and BS begin

The winter training was going so well. Now I have buggered up my knee. Gonna be 6 weeks before I can do any furious cycling. Luckily I assume ebike in turbo mode covers the 'just gentle exercise and stretching' they said about. So I can still make the most of the bad weather.
