    1992 Trek 8900

Re: Dining table Well Retro Spud, i did get caught, but as my Mom willed her the whole set, a very nice one too, she was kind enough to hurry me off it without any further punishment. In an effort to find a complete group I did go with newer XT components. All of the correct vintage pieces I...

    1992 Trek 8900

Re: 1992 Trek I just received my other 92 Trek back from the powder coaters today. When Gil's decals arrive it will go off for clear two part polyurethane, then the build begins. Have almost a complete compliment of super clean XT components, with Bontranger rims & DT hubs. Should be nice.

    1992 Trek 8900

I just picked up a new project, 1992 Trek 8900 Composite frame. In the middle of three other builds it seems crazy, but for $99 I could not resist. Will be searching for XTR bits and pieces to put it back together with, and a fork Not sure what to go with there, Cro-Mo, carbon, or aluminum.

    1997 bianchi

Re: Bianchi I just checked Boston's CL for Bianchi's, 26 for sale. That is quite a selection compared to my Orlando area offerings. I would buy the Volpe if I were closer, great touring road bike for my 59 year old body. I grew up in Boston, always thought I saw a lot more Celeste colored bikes...

    1997 bianchi

Re: Bianchi Hello Steve, it is seriously strong. The engineer that machined the piece does, or did, parts for NASA. He did some pressure test with an expansion device, and assured me that the neck, at the top, was substantially stronger than original. The height is good for me, I'm rather short...

    1997 bianchi

Re:Bianchi Road Hello, this one was stripped of its XTR goodies, but I'm nursing her back to health, there aren't even any scratches. As for road bikes there is a Bianchi Volpe touring bike about 20 miles from me in a thrift store, hasn't sold the last two listings. If he comes down a bit ill...

Re: Bianchi Super GL Neck Repair Well I just got my Bianchi Super GL back after having a machine shop taper the neck reinforcing collar I had made to remedy the crack at the top of the neck. The collar is flush, tight, and appears to be a very reasonable solution to this issue. It closed the...

    1997 Marin Rocky Ridge

Re: logo I wouldn't have it any other way. I have had Gil make me decals for my Trek, and I believe he could do this one too. I have just been evaluating the repair, the bike is so otherwise clean I'm going to do it. I have a GT I can raid for parts for my Trek. Thanks for the encouragement.

    1997 Marin Rocky Ridge

Re: Marin neck crack Thank you for the information. I really love this bike, and it has the upgraded Pine Mountain components. My other consideration was to break the Marin down, weld the crack and have a collar welded at the top and bottom of the neck to reinforce the area. Then I could...

    1997 Marin Rocky Ridge

Re: So I've been cleaning, greasing, and detailing the Marin and I uncovered a crack in the center of the neck on the bottom. Heartbreak. Well now I have a full LX/XT setup to rebuild my 1993 Trek Singletrack 950 with, it should be back from the powder coasters this coming week. Then I will...

    1997 Marin Rocky Ridge

Re: 97 Marin Rocky Ridge I sent my serial numbers off to Marin bikes web site asking for specifics. The reply indicated that I have a Pine Mountain, however it clearly says Rocky Ridge. Has the same components as a 97 Pine Mountain, but it isn't. They did not have an answer for that.

    Wright Saddles Classic Sprung Seat

Last evening I was the recpient of a very nice gift from a fellow bicycle affecianado. These two Wright Saddles were given to him back in the early 70's, he never used them and has now passed them on to me. I don't know what to do with them either, but they are works of art to be certain...
