RBotM August 2021 - OPEN MONTH - Entries now open!

HPL's 1954 Hercules roadster Almost forgot what I just put back on the road a couple months ago after some brake issues and a saddle problem. Fits in with the orange theme!

    Colnago Super

@Tamar Imaging nice bike! What it the rear derailleur you have on it? Sun Tour? By the way, nice photo; makes it look like it was in motion with the reflection behind it.

rBoTM RBotM July 2021 - Summer Rides - Poll Now Up!! Vote Now!

Thank you to all who entered and voted! I appreciate the nod of approval. Still trying to get my brother to send me the photo of myself taking the photo of him. Don't think it would have been as dazzling since the sun would not have had the same halo effect as in the direction I was shooting...

COLNAGO CARBITUBO w/Custom Delta brakes LATE 80s EARLY 90s

Those deltas are killer with the matching color! Are you keeping them on it or using the Record calipers?

rBoTM RBotM July 2021 - Theme - Summer Rides

My brother taking a photo of me while I take a photo of him on the Massachusetts Central Rail Trail; specifically in the cut-out gorge for the old train tracks near Rutland. I am on an 80s L.L. Bean mtb (rebranded Cannondale) which I had already cropped out the photo; bro is on a Trek 720...

COPPI 60s(?) "DALLA LIBERA" badged Frameset

Never heard of that brand. Repainted and rebranded? Given that the "Coppi" emblem was painted over (seemingly as to obscure) it would make sense as to It being "professionally" rebranded for new sale under the DALLA LIBERA name. It looks like a decent frame, but I have no idea as to a year. If...

    Colnago Super ('80-'81?)

I have a commuter bike for that use, although that ride is substantially lighter than my ride. I wonder if that bike was in an accident given its replacement fork. Not what I would be using a Master for, but to each his or her own. Thank you for the stem ID; I thought it was from the late '90s...

    Colnago Super ('80-'81?)

I do appreciate the concern, and fully understand the need for adequate braking power. In my area the law is simply that the bike must be able to stop in 25 feet or less when travelling at 10 mph on a clean, dry, and level surface. My present set-up satisfies that without issue. The only bikes...

Back on the road after a minor "face-lift".

    Colnago Super ('80-'81?)

Work in progress photos; not through with the refurbishment, but better than what I started with. Lighter, and sleeker looking; and much more comfortable with the longer bar stem (120mm vice 60mm). Removed rusty parts. Painted the chainring panto's and crank spider arm flutes with "World Champ"...

Yes, still essentially the same except saddle. It now has a Fondriest badged saddle.

    COLNAGO "NUOVO MEXICO" 1986

Re: @pigman; not a problem in my opinion. I like to hear other's educated opinions; they do matter. I do not ride the Nuovo Mexico very much, mostly ride an older Super, or much newer Super Piu. I have one Colnago that has not been built up; I suspect a contract build on an odd "Saronni"...

    COLNAGO "NUOVO MEXICO" 1986

Re: I would not have minded if my fork was chromed, but with the retinato paint scheme it looks good with the frame; chromed head lugs, although nice, would not have been missed if painted to match the frame. I do like my fully painted Super, it flies under the radar somewhat when gathered...

    COLNAGO "NUOVO MEXICO" 1986

Yes, added confusion. I only go to Ray's site to look at the splash tape horror. SARF is limited, and many of the identifier guides contradict one another, and/or agree, but for model different years. Not to mention that they only show limited views of their representative model year examples...

    COLNAGO "NUOVO MEXICO" 1986

The Nuovo Mexico was first manufactured in 1982 (limited to teams/pro racers only?; possibly made even as early as late '81). Saronni raced one to victory at the World Championship in Sept. '82; I believe it was still being called a Mexico at the time in '82 (being called a Mexico again in '86...

    COLNAGO "NUOVO MEXICO" 1986

Nice bike, I always liked a simple black and white decor. I have a Tommasini Prestige with similar look. Is the downtube "crimped" like the top tube? I am trying to determine approx. what year it changed; '84 or '85 (knowing Colnago, it was probably a mid-model year change that was not...

Opinion on buying an old bike

Although condition is quite important, it does not matter whether you get a new, used, cheap, or expensive bike if it is not a proper fitting frame. Ensure if possible that the bike is safe enough to test ride by the intended rider to determine if it will be a viable fit for their use before...

    Colnago Super

Thanks for the photos! Nice rides. I have never ridden a steel Colnago (or any steel bike) with the Precisa or straight fork. I am very curious to try one; I do not think that my Asso (alloy frame, steel steerer/carbon fork) would be a proper comparison given the geometry and materials...
