new lights this winter- whats the best bet?

chers Kaiser-must say,the whole subject seems quite complicated-used to be the brightest thing was from eveready ( about one millionth lumen!) and a funny 4.5 v battery with bendy brass bits that always gave trouble-and we all lived in matchboxes in the middle of the road......

new lights this winter- whats the best bet?

Thanks for the comments-so -it looks like the cheapest route to inexpensive, very bright lights is to adapt one of the new type, high output led torches. As I mentioned (sound like a whittering old git here) I imagine these super-bright torches are going to dazzle as there will be no cut-off to the...

new lights this winter- whats the best bet?

Thanks Richard. The MTE certainly has top marks in the reviews.I was a bit concerned about the dazzle factor as the reviews are mostly off road-do you think I'm worrying too much?

best manchester bike shop for a new lid?

Thanks for that Purplefrog. The arguments for/against/compulsory/voluntary wearing of helmets are many, and often academically interesting. For me the helmet is a part of the ritual of getting my kit on,a sort of talisman I suppose, individual choice is surely the most important factor in such a...

    old style hubs/modern kit

Yup.think you're right hamster-I was trying to get the look of the bike when new, when of course q/r's were available way back, and the bike was really only a sport/tourer anyway, should have thought it through,-so-i guess it isn't really an option to have an old style hub with a cassette.Thanks...
