    Boulder Starship

Well I've tried the Starship with a 100mm stem and some old Easton Monkey bars and it felt better but shockingly I cannot bond with it  . I think the problem is that back in the day this was such a dream bike that I think I somehow expect it to be 4 times better than the £600 bikes I was...

    1991 Specialized Rockhopper Comp

Thanks for the offer but the right hand shifter was just about dead when I took it off as well, despite attempts to resurrect it, it still missed upshifts and there was a lot of play in the bottom lever despite it being a stiff as chuff to push. Eventually I may buy some thumbies but fundings...

    Boulder Starship

The conversation about old mountain bikes started as I stood watching my father in law farting about tuning the carb on his pre 65 trials bike. "I've got an old bike you can have" he says. Naturally, images of a slightly battered mid range aluminium kona or something spring to mind until he...

    1990 Ridgeback 701LX Project

You don't fancy just throwing it together as it is then Matty, a bit of rat look. In vintage tractor circles, the original ones with patina fetch as much if not more than the ones that some poor sod has spent 1000's doing up. Having said that there's patina and then there's scratches Last summer...

    1990 Marin Eldridge

Heck it was near as damn it 1 of our neighbours' houses, we are about a mile away as the crow flies just out of Wigg!!! We would have the same issue if ours caught fire cos it's 1km down our track and our watertank only holds about 5ton of water!!! I'll have a think this weekend on Marin and let...

    1991 Specialized Rockhopper Comp

P.S it was a bloke that gave me the tyres, not a block, honestly

    1991 Specialized Rockhopper Comp

Here's one I acquired before I fell out with ebay last year. I love this bike, it's a bit rough round the edges but it rides great. Previous owner had owned it from new but had mainly used it on the road as it came with slicks on but the block also gave me the original ground controls which are...

    1990 Marin Eldridge

Oh heck, don't tell me it involved a heat lamp for some lambs and some straw!!! Our barn lost it's roof about 30 year ago for that reason (not us I hasten to add)

For sale due to complete lack of use!! Great solid van, 2.0hdi (90hp) with 76K on the clock which tallies with old MOT's. Originally Edinburgh city council van and the converted semi professionally to a 2 berth camper. 35+mpg, electric hook up, 3 way fridge, 2 burner hob, insulated and lined...

    1990 Marin Eldridge

Yes indeedy, I'll take a piccy or 2 later tonight. It was as it left the shop, but well used, until a ride round Gisburn Forest with the North West lot last month. It survived the ride but in the following days it suffered exploding sti-itus and hideous middle ring chainsuck

    1990 Marin Eldridge

It might not get muddy, I've had it 4 years and in that time it's only been ridden on a family holiday in Scotland 2 years ago.I am currently trying to make the difficult decision on whether to part with this or not as I do prefer the Rockhopper and my father in law has just cast off one of his...

    1990 Marin Eldridge

I've finally worked out how to get pictures onto the ZX81 so here's my 1990 Eldridge. She has been ridden about 60miles (40 miles by me) from new and all in the dry. Unfortunately the original tyres fell to bits as did the grips and then whilst in storage some vermin decided to consume the...

NWA regional ride: Gisburn Forest ~ AFTERMATH

Thanks fellas, that was a cracking day. If there's one thing I like on new fangled bikes, it's threadless headsets, as usual for me my threaded headset developed a bit of play. Maybe I need to use the front brake less. Sorry I couldn't stay for the 'Bistro', my sheep have an annoying habit of...

NWA regional ride: Gisburn Forest ~ 17/02/13

Blumin'eck, the Wildslippers are more Wildsplitters now I've blown them up  , don't think I'll risk it. Looks like rockhopper tomorrow, that'll be it's first outing in my hands. If weathers as good as it was today it'll be grand.

NWA regional ride: Gisburn Forest ~ 17/02/13

There's a few rocky sections which may give the old tyres a hammering especially the pitched stone descent sections, but it's all very grippy terrain, with any exposed rock being coarse gritstone, (makes your hands bleed if you wall the stuff with no gloves on a wet day) not slimey limestone...

NWA regional ride: Gisburn Forest ~ 17/02/13

Flats or spds, eithers fine, all the 'black' sections are optional. I won't be sampling the slab I don't think (17stone and cantis with shimano pads are not overly compatible) but Hully Gully, Homebaked etc and the duck boards are all fine with a rigid bike. I'm thinking the Eldridge.

NWA regional ride: Gisburn Forest ~ 17/02/13

Well it's lambing time in 2 weeks so if you wanted to part with the Tuff trax I can always make use of a spare hurdle about the place (seriously though I would buy it back cos I miss it). Not sure whether 1990 Eldridge, 1991 rockhopper comp or 1995 boulder starship yet (not a boing or Ali fan...

NWA regional ride: Gisburn Forest ~ 17/02/13

Well seeing as though walling work has yet again ground to a halt due to damned white stuff, I thought i would take the dog for a quick (not actually quick I'm not capable) run round the top loop. At 13:30 there was 4-5" on sections up by the crags. I bailed out and came back down on the fire...

Need Help Identifying Diamond Back Topanga Year

My first mtb was a 87 or 88 topanga which was the same colour with U brake, but I cannot for the life in me picture the decals. It came with white riser bars and a silver cast alloy stem.
