    1991 Rockhopper comp seatpost diameter?

Thanks all, it is looking like it should have a 26.4mm post. I have also now stumbled across a reference table on the Sheldon Brown website which also says 26.4. The post that had bent was an etc branded one, at least it didn't just snap though.

    1991 Rockhopper comp seatpost diameter?

Afternoon all, I've just noticed that the cheapy aftermarket seatpost on my spesh is slightly banana shaped. So I've whipped it out to look at the diameter in order to buy a replacement. It's a 26.4mm, which seemed an odd size to me, then I noticed that the clamp was nipped in a bit much so I...

Mavic MA 40 Rims -Looking for some Info and reviews on these

Re: Mavic MA 40 Rims -Looking for some Info and reviews on t I think you are right there, I worked for orange in 1990 and when I started there were a lot of m6s being fitted early in the year but by then end of the year it was nearly all 231 with m6s going on LX bikes. I only remember...

Mavic MA 40 Rims -Looking for some Info and reviews on these

Re: Mavic MA 40 Rims -Looking for some Info and reviews on t Those mavic headsets were brilliant! I had one on my 1990 clockwork as the rc30s used to shake the xt one loose all the time. Never a problem again after I fitted the mavic

    Another Marin...

P.s mine is same year as yours and it still bears it's "made in Taiwan" sticker on the headtube

    Another Marin...

Very nice, there does seem to be a few eldridges squirrelled away in the depths of garages round the country. Is that a touch of peely headtubestickeritus it's suffering from. Zolatone and stickers are not best of friends it would appear.

What do you do when being chased by a dog?

Exactly! I was attacked by an English Bull Terrier when I was 10. It had been wandering round the park when it walked under the swings which we were on. My mate unavoidably kicked it and the sod turned on me, fortunately I only suffered a destroyed coat and a bite on the arm, which was covering...

Mavic MA 40 Rims -Looking for some Info and reviews on these

Re: Mavic MA 40 Rims -Looking for some Info and reviews on t Forgot to add, they were an upgrade only due to them being super light for the racing types, but for all round use the 231's were a better (stronger) rim.

Mavic MA 40 Rims -Looking for some Info and reviews on these

Re: Mavic MA 40 Rims -Looking for some Info and reviews on t I seem to remember them being a upgrade option on orange bikes in 1990, I vaguely remember them going onto prestiges specced with xt as they were popular for Xc races.

What do you do when being chased by a dog?

I would say 95% of collies are only interested in the chase, it's what they are trained to do, it's not helpfully though when they are not under control of the boss. Remember it's not the dogs fault it's incompetent owners who do not train their animals. Terriers just need a good kicking as they...

    Orange Clockwork crosser

Yes doesn't look like a clockwork to me either. Cable routing wrong for head tube length and cannot clearly see a wishbone

    b.s.o wrecks to riches :-)

Oh right, maybe Amazon is too high spec then with it's lardy-dah Altus c10 with front qr and as the frame sticker says it has some chromoly somewhere.

    b.s.o wrecks to riches :-)

I'm in the process of doing the same with a 1992 Raleigh amazon. So far it's only got a better saddle, deore chain set and un53 and deore front mech though. I'm growing strangely fond of it. Might take a photo this weekend.

    1990 Marin Eldridge

Yes, it may seem strange and I never expected it to happen but yes, just wish Rockhopper was in the same condition. I have to say that the tyres and grips on the spesh have endured far better than the Marins, heavier items though but quality rubber. Ground controls are hardly perished, rockstars...

    1990 Marin Eldridge

Brock's lined up for a viewing. It's in stunning condition and looks beautiful but I like the feel of skinny, whippy flexy tubes like the Rockhopper and I'm not into garage queens, I have to love riding them.

    Boulder Starship

Haha, you had to respect it or it would try and kill you. Try as I might I couldn't get the brakes to balance so if you had to brake hard you ended up in a hedge, wall or ditch. I didn't have it long.

Tis very true! I think I prefer stuff that's a little bit, well, poo. I bought a Raleigh Amazon locally the other week and for some reason I think it's great, even though in 1992 I would have laughed at it. Then again I've owned a Lada Niva, a Suzuki Jimny and a Peugeot Bipper, that says it all...
