I had the same combo BITD - I so wanted them to be cool, but the were just heavy and didn't work to well. My vote is uncool - did look quite nice though :)

sounds like the heat shrink might be worth a go - I guess you can always take it off again if the spring is a bit snug

many thanks for the picture LTS Biker. Your internals do look slightly different to the ones in my fork. I have plain springs in my forks, whereas yours seem to have a short sleeve around the outside of the spring coil. Could this be why I get a rattle, as the spring flexs and contacts the bore...

its recommended that the frame shell is re-faced prior to fitting the cups, so that the bearings sit squarely to the crack axle. Needs a special tool to do it, so its probably a job for the LBS
