    thanks jonny69, I know that the alloy Weinmanns came in many different drop lengths (including some wild BMX ones over 10cm deep!). However, they are rather flimsy and ineffectual. Is there anything with a drop deeper than 75mm which actually works well, other than Alhonga or Tektro dual pivots?

    I'd be very interested to know what model brake callipers you were using to fit those 700c wheels. Might give them a go on mine as I don't like the 27" wheels currently fitted and have some much nicer 700c spare which will look better. I like your bike's 'clean' look but I'll keep my front...

    The OP might have a few issues if he tries to fit brakes and toe-clips. With 700c wheels as fitted, the drop to the rims is ridiculous and there are few (if any?) good callipers that will stretch that far. If he fits 27" wheels (which the frame was originally designed for) then the brake drop...
