MASSIVE list of parts and accessories

I know it's a UK forum, but I thought someone may want a chance at this, especially if they are near NYC (or have a friend there)... I'm moving and cleaned out the bike room. I have a massive amount of parts and accessories that I need to get rid of. I want to sell them all in one shot and I...

    WTT: Fat Chance for skis

Anyone here with good ski hook-ups?? I have Fat Chance Wicked (19") that I've been building up into a single-speed. It's almost done, but ski season is almost here and I need to get new skis more than a single-speed. Is anyone interested in a trade? Specifically, I'm looking for Nordica...

Tell me about these (Rock Shox content)

If you put an Indy XC on a Zaskar I'll find you and take your bike away! That fork is street-worthy at best. Too soft. Too flexy. Temperature sensitive. Horrible adjustment. Technological refinement that consists of "hey, I can flex this bouncy ball. Let's make it longer and try to make a...

new smoke and darts - i cant get them in NZ or find online!!

I recently got some folding Smoke and Darts through Nashbar (or was it Performance?). Either way, the price was VERY reasonable and now my bike is AWESOME!!!!

    Bikes like marmite?

There are lots of aerodynamic things that wouldn't make a good bike. Softrides just happen to be some of the few things that have handlebars, wheels and chains and still don't make a good bike.

    Bikes like marmite?

As much as you can hate the brand, you have to give respect to a bike that was innovative is some way or another I don't like Trek, but I respect the OCLV bikes. There were few that were lighter. And they were strong (enough). And made in the US. I hate Proflex, especially for their use of...

    This morning's fun project

So I finally built up the wheels I wanted for my bike--Shimano XTR M900 hubs on Mavic 717's. I used DT 14/15g spokes (3x front and rear) with alloy nipples (silver and black alternating). I mounted new Panaracer Smoke and Dart classics on it, too! Here's the best part, though... because this...

Universal definition of "Ugly" as it applies to re

Even if the bulge is really large? I've got one or two more... Seatposts that face in the wrong direction Nice bikes that don't fit the rider (seatpost all the way down or WAY too high). A nice bike isn't very nice if it doesn't fit. Every bike was designed with a "mannequin"...

SRAM X/O and Thomson are not "stupid-light". A carbon USE seatpost or Topline cranks... now THAT's stupid-light.

    tell me about spooky

I used to ride with the kid that just bought them. Micky something-or-other... went to Hampshire college while I was at UMass Solid bikes. They were under-hyped for quality, but over-priced for aluminum.

Universal definition of "Ugly" as it applies to re

I'd agree for the most part, but it depends on the bike. Stupid-light stuff on race bikes is okay. Stupid-light stuff on DH/Freeride bikes is dumb and ugly. As for 1.5" slicks... come on! If it's a mountain bike, it should have proper rubber. If not, get a hybrid! I've got one more thing...

Universal definition of "Ugly" as it applies to re

The BOTM thread got me thinking about this. I think there needs to be a collaboration on these things. Here's my take: (I consider everything below ugly unless it's does as a replica of a race bike) -Mismatched tires (color, not brand/model) -Riser bars with bar ends -Saddles that are more...

BoTM May 2008 - GT Special

I guess that you have a point in some respects... it doesn't need to be high-end to be proper "old school". It just has to be done right (i.e. no bar-ends on riser bars). I think a proper BOTM entry needs to be an example of what was good during the time period that's being represented (even...

BoTM May 2008 - GT Special

Is it just me or does this seem to be "ugly bike month". As far as I'm concerned this should be the criteria for a "GT" month (I'm not an expert, but I've sold them for a very long time): NO RTS's!!! Zaskar/Zaskar LE/Xizang/Psyclone/early LTS Judy SL/Mag 21 SL Ti Flite saddle...

after some pic's off that zasker re issue

The did a good job on that re-issue! I can't get past that stupid looking Kore seatpost (and I sell them!) and the purple ano brakes I think are a bit much. The tires and the fork, however, are excellent!

    150mm 1 1/8 threadless stem in titanium

Absolutely HAVE to have a titanium stem in a 150mm and 1 1/8th threadless. I know there are Specialized titanium ones on ebay and I purchased one before reading up on them. Scaaaaaaaaaaary! They all seem to be breaking and after looking at the handlebar clamp... well, it's so thin that I...

A lot of carbon, definetly not retro Colnago ready!

I saw a guy in a shop last week with a set of those wheels on a brand new Orbea. He threw his rear derailleur into the spokes and the wheel exploded. He looked like he's been crying on the entire drive over to the shop.

Greg Lemond Ti MTB (92) - Revisited page 4

Sure... The road bike (and I believe the MTB also) was made by Clark Kent. The drop-outs are a tell-tale sign. They look like a couple of titanium plates welded to the inside of the chainstays/seatstays. If I remember correctly these were made from 1992-1995 (the mountain bike didn't last...
