It's not about how well they work, so much as whether they have the Shimano logo on them. I'd have considered those NOS ones on eBay.de but they're the wrong design. The ones I need have a plain unthreaded shaft that go though a hole in a clamp that is in turn bolted to the canti. Like...

Cheers Rahbari, It really is the Shimano shoes I need. Koolstop won't do it. as I'm trying to restore a Pine Mountain to a fairly faithful original spec, so Shimano DX preferred, but definitely Shimano something. Am watching eBay for NOS with everything crossed. Cheers again, Lee. :)

It's from the Deore DX hub. Very similar to the one pictured above, but there is no circlip up inside the recess. Looks like these -

Took the old pedals and rubbed them down last night, before giving them two coats of gloss black and treating them to new clips. I also have a VGC pair on their way from eBay, which may be better, as the Shimano Deore DX stamp in white is still present on those. These ones will likely end...

Ha ha, yes, kind of... I bought the wife a good quality stereoscope for her own amusement, and it was just sitting there on the desk, so I figured I could get good detailed view of this tiny washer.

No offence intended... It was a smiley rolling eyes! To be fair, I asked the question because I'd like to know if anyone knows how to do this, not if they think whether there a good reason. I am restoring the bike to the best detail I can manage, and having the original QR is definitely part...

Errr.... It's worth the hassle if they don't make them anymore and you're trying to restore one to original spec. :roll:

Jeeez, I read that subject line and thought someone was selling their private parts!!! :shock:

This is the retro Shimano QR skewer... It looks like it should be a split ring/washer on the end of the pivot pin where it comes through the opposite side of the cap.... but it isn't; the ring/washer is complete and there's no obvious way to remove it and release the lever from the end cap...

How much are you asking for yours?
