Early version of a seat mast? Very cool!

    1980's (?) Raleigh Rocky

Thanks, guys! I hope it holds up to some northeast pounding. Unfortunately, snowed in at the moment, so she's resting in the basement for now, haha.

    1980's (?) Raleigh Rocky

Been busy, but finally finished the bike up. Took it for a quick test around the driveway, and it handles like a tank (in a good way). Very relaxed geometry, something I'm not used to on a retro bike. Should be fun on the trail. Frame: 1985 Raleigh Rocky Fork: Raleigh? Chrome Headset...

    1980's (?) Raleigh Rocky

It's just Raleigh 502MT tubing, which I assume to be some sort of heavy cromo. I dug the stem, brake levers, and shifters so I bought it. The most expensive thing so far was all the new spokes.

    1980's (?) Raleigh Rocky

Picked this bike up a while ago, and haven't had much time to work on it. It's almost done, I just need to finish tensioning-truing the rear wheel. I have no clue what year it is, the serial is M5-F0898, if that means anything to anyone. I think it may be a Canadian model. Anyway, here're some pics.

Anyone ever heard of a Raleigh Rocky?

While rebuilding the BB, I saw the spindle was stamped "Hatta 11 87." If that's a date code, I guess that puts this bike at a 1988 model. Anybody know the timeframe Raleigh used 502MT steel in their bikes?

Anyone ever heard of a Raleigh Rocky?

I recently picked up a Raleigh "Rocky." I've never heard of this model. Has a Canadian bike shop sticker on it. Looks to be c. 1985 or so. Has dark red metallic paint, and a chrome tange fork (which probably isn't original). Components are Suntour XC thumbies, XC rear derailleur, and AX front...

    Alpinestars BB?

Have posted the beast before, but now it has gears. Certainly not one of the prettier/period correct/high end bikes on here, but I love riding it and it certainly garners some comments.

    Alpinestars BB?

Alright, there was a 122 in there, probably the original one I guess. Anyways, I had a 110 laying around so I popped that in. Will just have to see how that ends up. Chain line is a lot better. Test ride tomorrow, I'll post how it goes.

    Alpinestars BB?

Ah, I should've said it's a '91 e-stay. Single ring up front to 8 cogs in back, the chain is about straight in cog 6 (third smallest). It barely holds on cog 2 but in cog 1 it's definitely not liking it, makes pop/skip noises. I need to pull my cranks and measure it.

    Alpinestars BB?

I seem to have a bottom bracket that is too wide on my Alpinestars Cro-mega. The chain angle is much too extreme when shifted to the large cog. What is the proper spindle length to be using for an Astars cro-mega? Thanks!

    Durable Retro Shifter (Thumbies?)

Agencyscum- thanks, but I live in the US so that'd be a bit of a hassle. I'll just cruise ebay until I find an appropriate piece.

    Durable Retro Shifter (Thumbies?)

Thanks for the advice guys. Agencyscum- how difficult are the SRT600 shifters to find? Also, if I go for thumbies, does it really matter which model I go for? I figure the design is so inherently simple that it really wouldn't matter, as long as it isn't bottom of the line.

    Durable Retro Shifter (Thumbies?)

I just broke two Deore LX 7-speed trigger shifters in the course of a month. There's no way I'm ever buying another one of those.. What kind of retro shifters are the most durable for the least amount of money? I was thinking thumbies may be the way to go. Options?

    Barracuda A2 Limited

Okay, I just got my new shifter in the mail today. I installed the shifter, was all excited to ride the bike again, and headed out to the driveway to test it. The *$^(@^ thing broke off again, in the same exact spot! Not even 5 minutes of riding. Is this a common problem on Deore LX...

'92 Raleigh USA Peak - Finished.

Looks great so far! Love the color scheme.

    Barracuda A2 Limited

Yes, it's an odd looking tubeset. The downtube is actually a sort of blade shape, it's not a tube.

    Raleigh MT500

http://cgi.ebay.com/Raleigh-Aluminum-MT ... 500wt_1154 Bikepedia only has two models of this, without the color. Google search resulted in nothing.. What's this bike worth? I was hoping it'd slip under the radar and I could nab it for minimum bid.
