I think it is a Nishiki Kodiak ;-) I am going to take a guess that it's the Canadian version of Nishiki. We have loads here, but they are a different family of Nishiki to the Alien and similar. Pretty sure they were designed and imported by Norco.

I remember them being in the 'light but flexy' camp and the lever shape was a bit meh. I prefer Suntour XC Pro out of the 'normal' levers from BITD. Graftons and the like seemed a bit of a joke.

The chainstays are trademark Schwinn / Paramount. No idea who actually made them though.

I guess we are both correct. By the time I bought my Comp(etition) fork, Composite was the general name for Bontrager's forks, with the Competition being the specific name for the higher end Composite fork: http://mombat.org/93bonty5.JPG

Bontrager Competition - or at least that's what mine was called (also with chrome legs) when I bought it circa 1990.

They are not wellies, they were prototype 5:10s ;-)
