Muddy Waters no more.....Muddy Fox.....the early Years.

And as if by magic it appears on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Muddy-Fox-Th ... SwOHNdSFKv I'm not really searching too much any more as we have too many bikes but I still sometimes browse the foxes in case a prestige pro comes up. Messaged the seller and linked this thread so he may...

Marin Team Titanium - modern build

How much will it raise it though? Some fairly basic fag packet maths done without the aid of CAD or anything. If you went from an 80mm fork to a 120mm you raise the front by about 35mm (minus about 5mm for the account of its not straight up but along an angle). as the BB is about 1/2...

SPD shoes that you can actually walk in.

Re: Re: Yeah, but lack of a receipt hindered that. I took it as a learning experience as I’m riding so much more now this kind of thing is aimed at the more infrequent rider where I’m out 3 times a week now.

SPD shoes that you can actually walk in.

Re: Re: Sports direct do a Muddyfox range of shoes. I bought the tour 200 shoe (thinking more expensive would be better and last longer), they lasted less than a year before the hard plastic inner sole made an appearance through the outer rubber sole, which won't hold with glue. The uppers are...

    Missing my dad

Only 9 months since mine passed. I don't think about him everyday as I'm so damn busy, but then sometimes when things are quiet it hits me like a train. I don't think a week will go by in my life that I won't think of him though. Mum has only recently given his clothes away, I think her first...

    Vintage 80s raleigh elkhorn

This is 1990 or later (assuming the groupset is original) the 300/400/500LX group (it looks like this might have 400LX) came out in 1990.

Muddyfox Courier 1987 small lady's frame

Re: Muddyfox Courier 1988 small lady's frame I think that's an 1987. which is probably a good thing for the value. 88 is a bit different: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=275565

Dating a 531 raleigh Blueridge MTB Frame WA0000345

You are right, sometime ago I found and linked the 1990 Lightweight catalogue here. Prior to this my knowledge was based on a friends bike which was running M550 LX, which as he'd got it used was probably upgraded. I don't think M550 was actually used in 1990 on the lightweights as the Blueridge...

I would love some advice on a bike for my wife.

Had this with my wife a couple of years ago. We went for a Cube WLS Access Race 29er in the end (a pretty similar spec MTB to the Tango). She has really enjoyed riding it off road and it gave her a lot of confidence. She want to do more of the Evans ride it rides now. Colour was a lot of the...

karma diamondback ascent - update 24/8/19

Re: karma diamondback ascent I think they were the same colour in 89 but had straight bladed forks. I am pretty Certain the Ascent EX did as that was the first Retrobike I picked up (just for a could of parts) and that was '89 as it had the one year only Mountain LX fitted. Carl.

    Claud butler pagan 653

Claudbutler used 653 quite a bit in the early 90's, it started off on the Top End bikes like my Anteaus (which I've had since new) and then dropped into the lower end as it became deeply unfashionable with everyone moving to Aluminium. The Anteaus is not particularly light but then it does have...

    New bike curious...

Re: Re: It's certainly not suited to the one bike for all situations crowd that for sure. One of the best value Trail bikes are the Calibre Bossnut and BBB from go outdoors, apart from a couple of compromises (lack of a lockout rear shock on the BBB) they generally can't be beaten for the money.

    New bike curious...

Re: Re: The evolution is down to sector refinement of things like Trail and Enduro. Trail has become the catchall segment of the industry that XC was. XC is now more niche. On a trail bike you can do XC (just not as efficiently) or ride enduro (you just need to be a bit more careful). I still...

GMBN: Retro Mountain Bike Challenge (and retro week)

It was only the worst as the Suntour X1 group was shite, the rest was decent and didn't it share the Frame/Fork with the Cindercone that got the XCD group (amazing what a single step up gives you)? I like the Yellow splatter a lot more than the CC's white, shame that Neil hasn't got the matching...

    Replacement dynatech frame sticker

H Lloyd cycles are probably a better bet for the old UK brands. https://h-lloyd-cycles.myshopify.com/co ... ns/raleigh There is a Dyna-Tech downtube decal on the first page. Don't get me wrong Gil is good (I've had some decals from him before) but as they are bespoke they are quite pricey...

    Car stereo advice needed...

I recently (well last year) upgraded the system in my 2006 WRX. I replaced the headunit with a Sony XAV-AX100 unit that runs both android auto and Apple carplay. I now plug my phone into a connector in the glovebox and get. Phone, Music (both local and net streaming apps like spotify), Sat nav...

    Raleigh summit

Re: Re: Frame design changed midway through model life to the shot in stays that you see on that bike from the stays brazed either side of the seat cluster due to warranty claims. If that's worth £500 my considerably rarer 531 Team must be worth a grand! Carl.

1995 Gazelle Titanium Pro Sort of Retro-Mod-Rat-Rod Build

Re: Scruffy TI build - don't hold your breath Early SID's, Judy SL's and Manitou SX Carbons all ride OK for retro forks, the early SID's probably the best. Slightly later but far better are Marzocchi Z2 Flylight Air's.
