The HiFi chat, build and modification thread!

I was really just noting the comparison, Amazon music is here to stay for convienience and it's fine (it often gives us some good suggestions we can save for later in it's random playlists) for what it is, quality it is not and i'm happy to keep getting CD's for this. Also this weekend a new...

    Going tubeless recommendations

I’ve just taken out the stans fluid that’s was supplied in my giant anthem 2 from the dealer (giant themselves) as both tyres wouldn’t seal and kept losing air. Took them off, washed and dried them out and replaced with effeto Mariposa caffelatex sealant (beat regular stans fluid in the mtbr...

Re: Nah, peels off and the residue can be removed with a bit of solvent or acetone like most adhesives.

    Going tubeless recommendations

I use the 25mm Gorilla tape for my conversions. Used on my cube for 18 months until I gave it to my ladon Rims that weren't even tubeless ready and it worked fine. It's also on my Kona Dawg (running Mavic Crossrides) and that works fine also.

The HiFi chat, build and modification thread!

Got the new drawer belt for the CD player and it's perfect again. So easy was the fix I spotted another on eBay with the same issue for peanuts so I bought it with the intention to repair it and sell it on. My dad had the same CD player and it started acting up and mum reckons he wouldn't have...

The HiFi chat, build and modification thread!

So it looks like I’m getting to the end of this marathon. Finally got in touch with dc boultons who assured me they could fix the driver so I sent it off. A week later it was done and I was £70 lighter but that was late June and it’s only just arrived back! It does however work now. It’s...

Saddle sore - comfy option needed

I get on well with the Charge Spoon as do my younger lad, brother and a couple of mates as well.

    1x10?

I've got a 1x10 on a 1993 Kona Hahanna my daughter rides. Running a 11-42 ZTTO cassette and a Narrow wide 32T Snail chain ring. The trasmission is a Deore shifter with an SLX clutched mech (although we haven't engaged the clutch as it makes shifting harder for her little hands). It's got enough...

    Ugly modern bikes

I’ve got a 2019 giant anthem 29er in medium, it looks ok and ok in proportion, the colour helps though as it’s mostly black with some green highlights. The one in that picture looks like someone vomited on it.

    Brand/trans x vs reverb dropper

I have a Tranz-X with a cable port external fitting, on my 2009 Dawg, it works well. I'm thinking of getting another one for my Giant Anthem, but internally routed as the frame accepts internal routing. Only thing that I don't like on the original is the old style lever, I'd prefer the southpaw...

2003 Marzocchi Bomber MX comp air service

You have it right in the first post. The damper is only in one leg, the other leg is the air spring, which is pretty much how 100% of good forks still work. The oil in the left side is lube for the air spring only and they only need about 5ml. Your forks self equalises the pressure between...

GOLD! Muddy Fox, yes that one again

That believe it of not after the other seller trying to pass a later model off as the real deal, is actually the real deal this time. It’s an 88 prestige for sure. The previously advertised one was a 1989 limited edition.

    2007 Kona King Kikapu

Konas of that era are really nice. I use my 2009 Dawg as a Trail bike and it copes really well. I've converted it to 1x transmission (actually went with 2018 1x11 SLX) which helps save a fair chunk of weight. The other obvious heft on that is the forks, the Toras work well enough and they have a...

    1994 Wheeler 9800

Re: Damn, also thought the construction in the background was nee hotel that was going up across the road from the tivoli Congress centre (where I usually stay when I'm there), I don't think I've been to the other area although my company has offices all over the city.

    1994 Wheeler 9800

Re: Wheeler 9800 Is that the Copenhagen Island Hotel in the background in picture 1? I think these pictures were taken just behind the mall, it's a nice place this time of year. Odd to see such a nice retrobike out in the city, so many of the horrid shopper type things around. Often though as...

    Modern bikes are they lardy?!

Cube access ws sl. Wife loves her access race, the sl is on budget for your friend, lighter than 30lbs and doesn’t have balloon tyres. Generally I would agree though, too much trail and knarly focus not enough of fitness building xc. Carl.

    Muddy Fox Sorcerer Mega

Yeah, definitely think I dodged a bullet there. The text was odd really as i don't see how I could be a fraudster. If buyer is stood there, inspects merch, happy with merch and decides to buy, hands over cash and leaves with merch. No fraud can happen. What am I going to do mug him at my own...

    Muddy Fox Sorcerer Mega

I had a 1990 Prestige Comp at one point (rode it coast to coast) and loved it, the 1989 and 1990 years were the best MF ranges but the 1989 and 1991 bikes ride the best generally until you get to the high end models where the 1990's compete. My Raleigh though was a want back in 89 when they...

    Muddy Fox Sorcerer Mega

It was your original build thread that reminded me of this year and inspired me to get one myself. It was the second retro I got after joining here (the first being a Seeker Mega which never the same appeal as the paint on this was so much nicer) and it has stayed with me 10 years nearly...
