Cassette and chain alignment? Is it really a problem?

Thanks for that, really useful. Is redishing complicated/costly? Again, I've never done that before...

    I hate ebay!

Just missed out on a set of Rolf Vectors because of eBay not letting me bid, so, SO annoyed. So still hunting for some nice good quality 700c's. Grargh.

Finding and fitting 700c wheels to bike - advice?

Yes - just trying to find the best quality second hand for as little as possible so I'm not throwing too much at it if it doesn't work. That said, I'll just use the wheels for something else if I don't like the ride..

Cassette and chain alignment? Is it really a problem?

It's because when putting a 700c with a 130mm hub into a 135mm frame people seem to think you need to put the spacer on the non-geared side, and redish the wheel; or reset the frame, or other complicated things. As you said, the chain runs at an angle most of the time anyway; in fact on mine as...

Cassette and chain alignment? Is it really a problem?

If running a 7 speed cassette on a 130mm hub in a 135mm frame, centrally positioned with spacers; is the chain offset really going to be that dramatic? Presumably the angle will change equally for deeper cassettes on certain gears....I ride mostly in the top gears anyway ...I am just...

Finding and fitting 700c wheels to bike - advice?

Thanks all, the cogs are turning in my mind box. Cheers for offers, I'm thinking...and looking at some quality second hand stuff at the moment.... Frame is my avatar. There is clearance. Using smallest tires. Might think I'm mad (well I am) but I've ridden this bike long time, amazing light...

WANT: 700c wheels. General I know. Got any hanging around?!?

See topic http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... 53#1630753 Want some to experiment with. If good quality lovely wheels, I will be happy to invest a wee bit to have them made to fit my awkward frame. If of lesser quality but you're going to throw them at me for next to nothing, still...

Finding and fitting 700c wheels to bike - advice?

Trying to work out the most cost effective way of getting a set of whizzy 700c's on my old (but epic) bike. I have rear drops of 135mm....this is all you need to know, all other complications have already been debated/ are accounted for!!!! For this particular bike, I have made the...

700c's on my Kona Hahanna - what will the problems be?

Yes, it is an experiment so I am just going to get some cheaper second hand wheels to start with and see what happens. I know about the overlap; if I ride too much on my heels (like an idiot with the wrong shoes on) with my toes sticking way forward I am prone to clipping the front at low speed...

Using an MTB rise stem on a Road Setup

I am converting a Kona Hahanna 1993, 14" frame. I used a stem and bars from a Raleigh to get them a LOW AS POSSIBLE....just look at my avatar. I absolutely love riding this bike but need to sort out the wheels 70 700c. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... 90#1628590

700c's on my Kona Hahanna - what will the problems be?

So my plan is to put 700c road/race style wheels on my 1993 Kona Hahanna (see my avatar). I tinker with bikes, have built a simple single speed before but I am easily tripped up... Issues I am aware of: -Brakes not reaching rims. I am aware of mavic adapters, and I have access to a...

    Kona Hahanna/Fire Mountain bike/frame+P2s 1993 -1998

Not desperate, but a shout out for anything knocking around. Will take in strays and shabbies if frame and forks intact and the price is right. Bit poor right now but am planning some creative build projects in time with these little guys :)

More unboxing - bargain stylee ;>) (tiny Kona content)

Is this essentially the same frame as the Hahanna? Actually, just looked it up, of course it is, I knew there was another model with the same frame. Do love the colour of that one! Big big fan. Shame you sister didn't value this! I'm trying to think of the word for what I'm turning mine...

I have this exact bike! Same, since new! Same frame size, everything. All still on its original joe murray gear, except for the bars, not quite as pristine as this but I give it all my love and it runs smooth and fast. Pin-sharp handling, this bike is a mini-beast. The frames are excellent -...
