    For Sale Captain Cowell's Karma-larder Free-nominal Love-spreading Ding-Dong!.....

Still no-one?😢 Well,in the meantime,I'd like to invite another member.I bought a nice M737 cassette from him some years ago but aside from that he's developed a product that I'm sure many retro bikers have benefited from.I'm sure there's a lot of unseen work that goes in to...

How to: Repair stripped puller threads on cranks

Great work!Nice touch with using the wax as a releasing agent.Modern epoxy resins/putty's can work wonders.Cheap enough too.Maybe worth shifting this to the Renovation Tips thread?Worthy of a place in my eyes. 👍

    Restoring blackness to metal parts

Good product.Used it a lot over the years. But as you mention, goes on quite thinly.Being a topcoat and having a good percentage of lacquer in,takes a few coats to cover bare metal, especially on edges. Don't know if you've tried the primer/basecoat/lacquer method?I switched over after listening to...

    Restoring blackness to metal parts

You'll need an etching primer,as mentioned, because you'll be painting bare metal. @Peachy knows his stuff alright, seems like he's just lacquered over the black primer in that thread.Lacquer is the hardest of the paints so always good for a tougher finish, topcoat is slightly softer due to the...

    Restoring blackness to metal parts

If you want to keep the original coating the only option I can see is touching up the scratches. Can be tricky matching colour/finish.Worth a try first, you may be happy with the results. Personally would strip parts and have them dipped/stripped (not blasted). Then you can either spray yourself...

RockShox Judy XC 95/96 - 3D Printed Elastomers (Looking for original Dimensions)

Not an expert on Rockshox but it sounds like the elastomers in your forks could be bump-stops so will only come into effect when the fork bottoms/tops out. They will be sprung/oil damped. That being the case, the elastomer you choose will not have a big effect on operation,as long as it has some...

New life into old brake blocks?

I've used a piece of abrasive paper (400/600 grit) laid on a sheet of glass and rubbed them that way.Easier to maintain a nice, flat, even surface on the pad.Or in situ just use the same paper on a rubbing block. If there's a lip,I just trim with a sharp blade.Worth checking for any grit embedded...

Don't know if you've already tried but there are a couple of members on here producing elastomers. I'm currently ordering from @rva .

BoTM Bike of The Month July 2021 - nominations thread

Darwin could probably explain it better than I could.... Matt discovered early on that a bike was a much more effective means of escape than burrowing.Though he has to be careful of his spines on the back tyre when descending.Note both pedals in exactly the same position. He nods down the lanes...

BoTM Bike of The Month July 2021 - nominations thread

I think he's overstepped the mark and should be banned to a month I haven't entered.😠 It's not his fault.Due to his location/poor roofing he's been crop dusted regularly since birth and has grown 3 of most things.🏕️🛩️💨👨‍🌾🌫️👹🦵🦵🦵 Nice to see a bit of Ti,and Ti doesn't get much nicer than...

    Shifter fault?

Agree with all above.Very common issue, lots of threads on here similar. As they're off the bike already I'd pop the covers off and soak in degreaser for a day of two, good scrub with the missus' toothbrush (if you can wrestle it off the dog),working the mechanisms now and then. You can use a small...

disc brake recommendations for 3x9 bike

I agree.Always preferred seperates for adjustability of position and in case something failed/was damaged I could just replace that item.Although Shimano reliability has been outstanding so hasn't really happened! Did a few rides on duals (M975 XTR),thought I'd give them a go as a bike I bought...

Oxidization / corrosion on Manitou 3

I'd agree with that.Try polishing it out first,if it's not shifting the corroded spots, start with 1500 or 1000 grit wet n dry,or anything inbetween. As fine as you can get away with really.Hopefully you won't need to go much harsher than that.Depends how deep it's pitted.Possible you'll wear away...

    '94 Marin owners!Assistance needed!

I sent my last 'Race Proven' seat tube decal to Ian at dnfive graphics for his files. He's done a cracking job of reproducing it.He's picked out some details on mine that I never noticed, regarding the way the decal has been stretched to make it oval.Mine below; The 'G' looks a little crooked,the...

    For Sale 'Retro Punctures'!

Did once ride my mate's Raleigh Nitro 18 miles over the rolling Lincolnshire Wolds with a back tyre stuffed with grass. He just rode alongside on my new Indian Fire Trail, laughing at my discomfort/puffing and panting most of the way.Sums up the kind of mate he was🙄.Stopped to repack/recover a lot...
