They are not bent however even when i look at the photo they look bent, I think that the reason is that the tyres are totally flat and the wheels were somewhat buckled, that paired with the fact that its not on a flat surface and at weird angle they certainly look well off, but they aren't :)

Yeah someone mentioned this before, don't know if it just looks that way on the photos but they are not

Found my old Raleigh racer in Dads Garage

Back to this one again Have the freewheel on the bike now (via LBS) and have a chain ready to go on the bike but have a question. Everything i have read says to put the chain on using the largest cog, This would mean that i would be putting it on the largest cog of my now 6 speed freewheel...

Found my old Raleigh racer in Dads Garage

Yeah definitely the original freewheel, I will get hold of the new freewheel and get the LBS to remove and put the new one on. Two more things though, what length chain should i get (are there any particular ones i should get?) and also the front derallieur, i think that it needs replacing...

Found my old Raleigh racer in Dads Garage

hmm been to Halfords and they didn't seem to have a great deal in there. Been looking around their website though and they have some freewheels but they all seem to be for mountain bikes (is this correct? does it matter?). Secondly , my chain did fall off a few times prior to the snappage could...

Yea the cogs on the back wheel are the original and are most likely to play a part in this one. My budget to get this one back on the road is about £150, i already have a chain break tool (yay) If i am replacing the back cogs, which ones should i get? Is this what they call a cassette? I...

Found my old Raleigh racer in Dads Garage

Update on this project. Eventually finished it, had to get new callipers unfortunately but ultimately managed to get it working again which was nice. Sadly though, chained snapped on me this morning on my way to a sponsored ride which was a bit harsh, anyone know if its possible just to...

    Raleigh Cadet "Panasonic" Finished..pics

Hi All I finished re-doing my Team Panasonic Cadet last Autumn and had a good ride on it but went out today and the chain snapped (this is probably down to it being 30 years old or so). The question i have is, can i just buy another one? or do i have to replace loads of other bits too? If just...

I cant seem to undo those two nuts which sit behind the allen wrench bit, these are the two nuts that sit in front of the caliper. I am not too sure which way to turn them to undo them, they are really tight.

OK pretty much sorted this one. Basically the front brake kind of clears the rim on the one side by a cats whisker but its enough not to rub, i cant seem to get it any better than that. I have taken off the black cover and underneath is the allen wrench thing, then two nuts, then the caliper...

Found my old Raleigh racer in Dads Garage

OK, followed the tips above and have somehow managed to get the back brake working fine, the front is another story. I cant get this one to work no matter what i do. I can center and then when i pull the brake it sticks on the one side, there seems to be a limit to how far i can turn the hex...

Found my old Raleigh racer in Dads Garage

Heres the choices at the moment are: 1. Preferred as its cheaper http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_273957 2. Second choice but this is for only one caliper http://www.evanscycles.com/products/shi ... 2#features Will either of these fit?

There seems to be quite a few about. Halfords do a pair for under £20 which look half decent but its the size i am worried about

On the back there is a normal bolt which is the thing that holds the caliper onto the frame. On the other end there is an Allen bolt which hides indide a plastic Black holder type thing

OK, had to get some Shimano Aero levers, the hoods disintegrated when i attempted to retape the bars. These levers look really good but i now have a problem with the calipers sticking on one side (front and back) and was thinking of replacing these but really not sure what ones to get at a...

Found my old Raleigh racer in Dads Garage

OK got it back from LBS, they fixed it. Really not too sure what they did but it appears to have done the trick. Cost me £9 odd. Bought some Blue handlebar tape while i was there so thats the next job, did notice that the front brake was a bit lame when i rode it for about 10 meters. Can...

Found my old Raleigh racer in Dads Garage

Awesome guys, bike now in local (traditional) bike shop for them to take a look at it. I think that the problem is that the original wheel was knackered and bought another one (strangely from the same shop) but it was slightly wider at the axle and i had to do a bit of a hulk hogan to get the...
