Bates BAR road/path F+F or complete, Pianni/Royce whls etc

I don't use this forum a great deal, but I've had some great deals from some great people over the last year or two so wanted to offer these bits up here before resorting to the auction site that shall not be named. All SOLD.

The UK Handmade and Boutique Bicycle Show 2011

I'll be along with the missus - she'll be doing the Dave Yates framebuilder course in late June so will need the inspiration.

Withdrawn - Claud Butler Mixte Frame (Reynolds 531).

What size is it? My friend is constantly on the lookout for a nice mixte but she's only 5' 1" so needs something around 19" which is looking like a bit of a needle in a haystack job!

    Spec me some rims.

I had the pleasure of seeing the velo orange rims in the flesh last month - lovely modern alternative to NOS. Wish I'd known about them for the Bates before i went and built using NOS rigidas! Got the Rigida's here: http://www.freemanscycles.co.uk/product ... AS23X%20SL Wish I'd have...

    Ishaw´s Feedback

Only way I can describe is 'super nice' bloke cutting me a bargain deal on a crankset to help a young lad cut his 'cross racing teeth.

    Cranks,Hubs,Stems and lots else

"1055 dual pivott short reach nutted £22.50" Forgive my ignorance - are these Shimano? I'm wanting to swap out some 'oh so pretty' aka 'pretty useless' campag single pivots on my Bates road/path frame (about a 45-50mm drop) for something that actually works... that normally means shimano...

    *SOLD*

I pm'd via the CTC forum :D The missus was rather taken with it!

Raleigh Gemini Trail (bit like a 'cross bike ?)

I did the old school routing on the tourer but for any other use, especially 'cross, then I can imagine they'd be a pain in the arse getting caught up on vegetation and getting in the way when shouldering the bike.

    Bob Jackson SWB racing tandem

I'm late to this one but oh my word, that is awesomeness to the nth degree - honestly, that bike must be unbelievably awesome to every possible demographic from old gits who remember more racing tandems in use to teenagers on an 80's revival kick. Utterly superb.

700c wheels in 'old' frames, lets see em.

You could make the mistake that I did - get 27" wheels built up before realising it was probably built for sprints  Still, I think it looks good anyway - shame the only brakes I can find with a shallow enough drop and nut fitting are useless Campag jobs which would definitely incur...

    Best Touring Tyres

I used vittoria randonneurs (26*1.75 version) on both our tourers - simply because they were £10 each at Decathlon! I was dead chuffed when both our bikes made it around 2700 miles of europe this summer without a single fairy visit or any other such damage - they basically just look 'worn in'...

    Best place to buy vintage?

That would be Hillary Stone - he makes his living from it, which people have varying views on. Personally I think it's a little exploitative of people selling stuff in good faith believing it'll go to a good home but there is the counter argument that it does tend to find a good home but at a...
