WHY building a bike for my daughter

Thanks. She does have a younger brother, but he's only 3 so still a little short for that one. If I wasn't so skint I would seriously be considering it as a future bike for him though.

WHY building a bike for my daughter

Bit of a thread resurrection. But here is the (work in progress) finished article. Just a year late, and just about build in time for my daughter's 10th birthday. The "to do" list: Swap out the tyres, I fitted my slicks to get it finished. Keep an eye out for a nicer set of V's...

    Mountain Mayhem

I thought it was at the same place every year :?: It's looking more and more likely I'll be needing an operation on my elbow, so it's very unlikely I'll be in a position to ride, but I always read the threads wishing I was there. If dates align etc I'd be happy to act as a...

    1992 GT Karakoram

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it. I agree an ahead set up gives you more options, and you could carry the scheme over to the stem. I thought about doing something similar with the GT frame I got for my daughter. She wanted pink or purple and I planned on trying the...

    1992 GT Karakoram

 Someone painted over the factory colour scheme. Were they blind? Looks like a ice challenge to have though.

How can I replicate a GT paintjob?

How about using a syringe? One of those large ones like a disk brake bleed size. Fill with (may need thinning slightly) paint, and squirt from a distance whilst waggling it about. Just thinking out loud.

Silly question - ahead stem on threaded fork

Hmm, you've got me thinking now.......... Bear in mind the bike will probably do 10 miles a year max and I will be keeping a close eye on it (let's face it, it's an excuse to spend time in the garage "inspecting" the bikes  )

Silly question - ahead stem on threaded fork

Thought as much  I've seen the quill adapters, just thought as it needs a new headset anyway this would be a neater solution. ne'mind.

Silly question - ahead stem on threaded fork

Silly question here, but I need a short stem for my daughter's bike. A thought I had was, that as it needs a new headset anyway, could I fit a low stack headset and use a short ahead type stem on the threaded section that would be showing?

Blasting and powder coating in Lincolnshire

Just coming back to this one for those interested. I used Ultimate Finish on the Westminster trading estate in Lincoln. £45 for frame and forks. The finish is pretty good, and certainly good enough for the vast majority of "not a full on to the final detail resto" bikes. Went for a...

    superstar rotors

Anyone had issues with their Sintered pads? I fitted some to my Elixir 3's and had really bad noise and vibration on the big long road descents on my C2C ride last week. I think maybe I should have decided on Kevlar's rather than the sintered.
