Can I fit a modern compact group on my colnago C40? I am thinking about bb width? The height of the front derailleur hanger? Italian threads? Thinking of a black 105 group. I know! Also on the look out for a Colnago star fork with a long steerer . Cheers.

Searched for manual. Shimano state 'max 26 teeth'? Anyone know different? What was that website that had loads of shimano 'cheats' by an ex-pro mechnic? Sheldon, maybe? :?

So, if I go down the mtb cassette route, what would be an appropriate rear mech? I'm guessing the dura ace 7700 would have too short a cage? Don't want to put an mtb mech on - I know XTR would work beautifully - but, it would LOOK WRONG!!!!!! :-)

Thanks for the replies. So; MTB cassette - would need a longer cage mech - aesthetics? SRAM/Campag compact chainsets - could work? Front mech operation an issue then? As it's a braze-on mech it could be lowered, but I'm wondering if it would need a longer-caged front mech - like...

I have a fantastic Colnago C40 with 7700 dura ace. Want to run a compact chainset ( fat and creaking after YEARS out of riding!). What will work/look good/examples/what have YOU done??? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Steve. :D

No-one? I've seen the old Hope style stem but only seem to go up to 110mm? Any guidance appreciated! Cheers.

Feedback - D/A cranks. Outstanding. The packaging was with the money alone! Seriously excellent - even the tape for the label was trimmed to right-angle perfection. The Dura-ace cranks were exactly as described and the right price. A real pleasure to find someone who not only appears...
