The forks have been in a box of stuff for ten years. I think they came off a oldskool Mongoose. I was going to braze some canti mounts on the fork, but have seen a few period shots of Clunkers with Dia Compe MX front brakes, so will be taking the lazy option. Who needs brakes anyway?

Progress made

A little progress on the contender. I’ve brazed some cantilever mounts on. Chopped off a scrap frame with a little of the old stay to beef up the crusty Schwinn stays. Frame is pretty rusty but it’s only got to last one race right 😁

I have a black Tange Strut, 1" steerer (roughly 155mm long) but its not threaded. Paint is very good. They were NOS and fitted to a bike but I don't think it ever made it outside. If its any use give me a shout and I will dig it out.
