Marin B17 98, refurb, and Ebike conversion.

Great fun to ride, but it tends to run away with me on technical stuff. I need to re flash the ecu to slow down the start up. The brake sensors are a pig to set up on Hope levers, but I'm still fettling it.

I 3D printed a box for the 10ah 48v battery. As the frame isn't an ideal shape I couldn't place it within the frame, so I had to put it low down by the motor, which is quite exposed. The battery didn't have a hard shell, so this was essential. 20180928_091140 by Andy Stokes, on Flickr The...

Marin B17 98, refurb, and Ebike conversion.

So, back from holidays etc, and onto the build. Next was to replace the terrible standard rear shock. This was probably the weakest link on the whole bike, and it's what was on it from new. I had one replaced under warranty when the bike was less than a year old after it exploded on the Les...

Re: I'm using a Bafang 750w jobby. I've got all the parts, except the battery, so once that arrives I'll post a bit more progress. They do look like fun

Re: Hello, I think I need to make a mk2 version with a little more give. After giving them a good run, they still worked perfectly, but the bellows started to slide in the hole. So either a thinner wall, or a drop of glue. I'll keep you posted. I have no problem in making a batch when...

Marin B17 98, refurb, and Ebike conversion.

I have a tired Marin B17 that I've had from new, and an itch for an Ebike, so I thought I'd put the project on here. My reasons for building an Ebike are nothing to do with disability (I'm slow and fat, but have no other issues :D ), it's simply because they look like a total hoot! Winter...

Any love for my one owner 1993 Marin Palisades Trail?

I had one with the matt grey saucepan paint and yellow forks. Was a great bike for the money. Sadly as it was over 25 years ago I have no idea what happened to it. Probably somewhere at my parents. Enjoy !

Roberts D.O.G.S.B.O.L.X emerges from the shed.....

The PACE RC35s are back from a rebuild and on the bike, but I have an issue! Where the brakes mount onto the forks I dont have the little disk with the hole in for the caliper spring peg thingy to go into. Can you buy them, or shall I just make them from a drilled shaped washer? Anyway here's...

Roberts D.O.G.S.B.O.L.X emerges from the shed.....

A mate sent me this pic of me on my 1989 Kona Explosif, which I crashed and sadly bent the frame! But this also shows the first incarnation of my Pace forks, which I bought as RC30s and later upgraded to RC35s. It also has Magura Hydrostops, and the first big barrel gripshift with the thin cork...

Roberts D.O.G.S.B.O.L.X emerges from the shed.....

I was looking high and low for my dads old red KHS Descent because I knew it had my Pace RC35's on it, and nobody in the family could remeber where it went. It was traced to the back of my brothers ex-wifes shed. Luckily it had not been binned after it was lent to my nephew (who couldn't...

Roberts D.O.G.S.B.O.L.X emerges from the shed.....

I have ended up lending bikes to family memebers over the years, and I'm now trying to track them down to remove the parts I want back on the DOGS. I have found and swapped my Ti Flite saddle off my Marin B17 that is on loan to my brother. I forgot how light a combo the Ti USE and Ti Flite is...

More period pics of the Roberts and general early 90's MTB I think my dad has loads more general pics from the era, but these are the ones that are to hand. Amazing to remeber the NEMBA events where it was Trials on saturday AM, then Downhill saturday PM, and Cross country on the sunday. All...
