Better night. took a file to the axle spindles. wheels fitted now fitted and tyres (27" michelin world tours) on! Found another cottered chainset, from a 70's carlton but will do for now, fits perfect. So actually looking not bad :)

pre cursor to ultegra? wouldnt' that be the older shimano 600 like on the perthus pro? I thought rx was the cheaper shimano like sora is today I suppose, either way it would be going lol

hmmmm. I reckon 200-250 I'd get it for. all the old rx100 shimano (by the looks of it) I'd want rid of. on that basis, its not a great deal.

going to have a look at this bike tomorrow. I dont know but something feels funny about it, not sure if its just been repainted? forks dont look right and cant find another pic of one painted like this. I take it all colnagos should have the clubs cut out of bb shell/lugs and on forks...

Issues arise in any build, that's just how it is. Bike is a '63 but so far seems to be very much 50's standards. @omegastrada, I've never claimed to be an expert, I just enjoy building old bikes. Drop outs appear to be a little narrower, tried some racelites. They fit, later spindles...

tonights fun with bikes. 1. Attempt to add new 27" wheels to frame. FAIL reason, axles too thick for drop outs. spindle itself woont go into drop out, spacing is fine? 2. Attempt to add cottered chainset. FAIL. spindle too short for new cottered chainset. 3. Attempt to take old...

new saddle/drops/service (aka bits box special), then wack on gumtree for studenty/vintage types. not a keeper imo.

tried with water, gonna add white vinegar into the mix.

I have a 1963 carlton continental, id like to remove some of the green corrosion/oxidisation? off it? any tips? white vinegar. autosol did nothing.

depends how old it is... if its a 50s-60's rudge we have loads over here, people use outside shops and the like. maybe its a bit silly lol

put into third there, and tried adjusting it until clicked through all three. just tried a test cycle there and all seems well, its a new ish bike (1980's) and the rest of the bike isnt rusted/abused, so looks like this had done the trick. :)
