    Hi from the midwest

Thanks for all the compliments. When I ordered the Rivendell I spec it to resemble the classic 70's style touring bike. Lots of clearance, relaxed geometry, and center pull brakes. The stem on it is a lugged Nitto and yes it has a long quill length. In fact it is not even close to the minimum...

Carbon forks... what do you think?

My opinion ( purely aesthetic) is that if the frame came with a unicrown fork from the factory then exchanging it to a carbon fork looks good. I have done it before and enjoyed the ride. Personally I can't take a pretty lugged fork off a nice lugged frame. But it is your bike so do as you see...

    Hi from the midwest

I have posted a few pictures of my 1982 Novara Mtb, but I am into nice road bikes (lugged steel). Today, my choice was my 1984 Team Fuji with Suntour Superbe group. Awesome weather, cloudy low 70's, which has been a nice break from the brutal summer we have had here. High 90's-100 for about 2...

    1982 Novaro MTB

I've been thinking of swapping tires to some schwab big apples. I can't ride off road anymore due to a bum shoulder, But I would like to bomb around with the bike on the street.

I have a extra pair, but are they are not Nitto's but lookalikes. These are decent and could use some good chrome polish. If interested in them let me know.

    Effective paint stripper...

I understand that when stripping things like forks or small parts, chemical strippers are easier. My point is when stripping a nice vintage frame with nice lugs, soda or media blasting is better ( my opinion). Why? first off chemical striping agents can hide out in the crevices around the...

    1982 Novaro MTB

The bars are nos nitto bull moose bars. They don't have the ridge runner bends in them. But hey don't have the rust around the welds, like I have seen in other bars like these, especially the Taiwanese made bull moose bars. I have some crap seat on it for the ad on craigs list but I will...

    Effective paint stripper...

I would find /pay someone to blast it with soda powder or walnut shells. very gentle. Doesn't cost a bunch of $ or lbs. Plus your lungs and finger tip skin will appreciate it late in your life. Chemical stripping is nasty and a lot of work. Hand your frame and few bucks over to a pro and it...

    1982 Novaro MTB

This bike is labeled as a Navaro. Which is REI's house brand. This is the same frame as a Diamond Back Ridgerunner. I bought as a frame set and I restored it with period correct Suntour parts. I was selling this bike but priced it so it would not sale. Unless the right person came along...
