I also like the bare/polished metal look :) I see it has a couple of carbon, anti-chafing bits. Nice. I have a couple of those from "Lizard Skins" myself. Haven't had a bike to put them on yet as my current bike is carbon (1996 Y-22 [see my gallery])

I wonder if the seat tube part of the frame escaped quality assurance inspection at the point of manufacture or if it was a result of environmental factors like humidity?

I'd be interested in seeing what it looks like beneath the paint. Judging from the location it doesn't seem like it could have been caused from force. Have the welder take a pic of the area, sans paint, before he/she does the welding. I'm no metallurgist but perhaps the underlying metal isn't in...

I agree. Taking those points into account, it must be larger. Maybe its also an illusion as the lower chain-stay is raised on the Alpinestar model.

It does look smaller in the pic. A 17.5" would equate to a Med. but it looks smaller than that. Maybe its just the perspective?
