Looks like I scored a possible gem at a not terribly outrageous price -- 1979 Carnielli in original setup (Campagnolo, details tbd). Deposit sent, can't wait to pick it up. Fingers crossed.

Columbus Delta tubing? Now with picture

I came across a frame with "Columbus Delta" tubing. Unfortunately the internet doesn't seem to know much about this. Could anyone give it an approximate place among http://www.equusbicycle.com/bike/columb ... schart.htm ? Many thanks.

    26.0 compact bars?

Deda 215 shallow can still be found fairly easily, despite having been out of production for some time.

    To Bright ?

+1 pink. Nothing wrong with loud colours on retro builds.

new to retro bikes - Colnago Identification please

Ok the frame is legit with the BB and all. There appears to be a tubing sticker under the second bideon cage, if you're seriously interested, ask for a closeup of that. 1500 CAD is quite a tall order for what might well be a lower range 80s frame (wild guess because of old-style BB). Sachs "New...

No decals at all on the top tube? Any chance this is a repainted frame? What about tubing sticker?

Note to self: the De Rosa Primato looks nice also.

    Oversized lugged frames?

Love it. Surprised EL-OS already had the unicrown fork, though. Thought that came later.

    Oversized lugged frames?

"Unfortunately" I have a fairly fixed idea of a retro bike project -- looking for an oversized lugged steel frame of reasonable quality tubing (say, Columbus EL-OS and the like). While there are a few EL frames floating around, the oversized (EL-OS, Genius etc) frames I see are usually welded...

Why so much crossover eg 53/42?

Also with the hard bottom gear of yore there was very little need to shift when climbing -- i.e. when the hands were on top of the bars.

    1970s brands rating

I've been mulling over the idea to get a bike from my year of birth -- 1979 -- for some time. Could you help me which brands to watch out for, besides the obvious Cinelli, Colnago. Gios, Faggin, Raleigh, what else? How are the brands rated for quality? I'm seeing Colnagos the most on Ebay, with...

    1x9. What size chainring?

Assuming road? 36 at least. Imagine, 34 would be like a compact crank in the small ring. Been running an 1x10 with 38 front for some time, and was mostly in the 13 and 15 in the back. Was a winter training bike though (CX tyres), so I did mostly faster shorter rides. Even with a 38 you'll spin...

Expander for 1" Colnago Star fork

I'm looking for an expander for a 1" Colnago Star fork. 1 inch ones are few and far between, the only one I found so far slipped inside the steerer tube. Any advice what brand/model works, and where to get it, would be appreciated. Please PM me, too, if you have one and would be willing to sell...

    Raleigh 50, any info?

I got a bargain (resprayed) steel frame to roll around town, the seller claims it's a "Raleigh 50 Road Race" and came with 650x28A hoops. Will probably fit with budget 650b wheels, but if anyone has info on the frame, I'd be happy to learn about it, and maybe even attempt a more genuine(-ish)...

I'm looking for a 36 hole rear hub from Shimano's 7700 or 7800 Dura Ace series (7850 would work too). Much obliged.
