1 1/8 steerer frames with generous tyre clearance?

Re: Ideally I'd like to do something like this viewtopic.php?f=6&t=195070 but based on a 1 1/8 steerer because there are more options. Unfortunately many of the newer frames are so strongly sloped, which is not as easy on the eyes for someone who's first mtb was perfectly level at the TT.

1 1/8 steerer frames with generous tyre clearance?

Edit: oops that went in the wrong place. Any chance to get this in the regular 1998 topic? Hello, could you give me any pointers which steel frames have really generous tyre clearance? Basically my criteria are steel, clearance, 1 1/8 headset, and not aggressively sloped if possible. Here is...

    Mavic Mach 2 vs Mach 2 CD2

Re: Cheers stringfellow. Found an older thread with some info. viewtopic.php?t=183085 Seems to be a nice rim for my retro steel build.

    Mavic Mach 2 vs Mach 2 CD2

Could anyone share some info about what sets the CD2 apart from the regular Mach 2 tubular? Read somewhere the CD2 had double eyelets, anything else? Looking to get me some more alu tubs.

    Which fork/tubing is this?

Re: Could it be a Columbus Cromor fork? Can't say why but the sloping shoulders (uni-)crown fork looks really nice. Better match than lugged or common (ugly) unicrown for a welded frame.

    Which fork/tubing is this?

Can anyone help me out which (Columbus) fork or tube set this is? Thinking the semi-sloping crown and lug-lessness would be the perfect match for my modern tig steel frame.

    Rossin Performance Info

Looking at buying a Rossin Performance frame, much like the one pictured below. One with the fat/profiled downtube, there seem to be various models with round downtubes also. Frame is NOS, so that's not a concern really, but I'd be interested in any additional info about this frame and its...

Ebay 'go between' in the US

oonaff: i think if you provide payment and a legit US shipping address, the seller is obliged to ship. BobToo: been using them for small parts like handlebars or seatpost a handful of times, not as a payment proxy though. Flawless processing.

    Cannondale Caad4 Aero

Re: So rad. Obviously there was aero awareness already, before carbon tubes got thicker and thicker in the 00s. Dreaming of a vintage/youngtimer aero road bike myself. Great find! 4-Spokes would be killer on this.

Advice on Gumwall tires for a complete beginner

Re: Re: Sweet setup! Do you think the load of the Audax is causing the wear? I have about 2000km on mine, and only the very fine herringbone tread is gone in the centre, but lots of rubber left. Front looking pretty much new. Smooth roads around here, though. Anyway they seem to be gone from...

Or Vittoria Corsa SC Open. Bit more expensive though, being a race tyre.

Steel aero bike -- EGO / ARI tubing etc

Looking to build a steel aero bike. Anyone got an extra frame, 56cm (ish) top tube? 90s era preferred. Intended for riding/racing, please no silly expensive collector pieces.

    Is this Columbus Max?

Re: Cheers danson. In all likelihood I'll not be getting either, Merckx doesn't really tickle my fancy and the Battaglin is slightly too big. Also I already have a lugged Genius frame in my collection, so I'll probably be holding out for a welded MAX or similar. The (non retro, ok) Hampsten...

    Is this Columbus Max?

Re: One more MAX question. The Merckx seems to have the (viewed from side) flatter top tube part on the front, the Battaglin facing rear. What's the deal here, which is better? (Both images from Ebay)

    Is this Columbus Max?

Re: Cheers guys. Was thinking too that it might have been a custom bike, possibly for a sponsored rider, made of lighter tubing. The number holder indicates it's not an off the peg one. The image is straight from ebay as you might have though. (No affiliation with seller)...
