    Question for older male riders

Apparently there is some form of correlation between both riding (cycling) and general exercise (non cycling) and slightly elevated PSA levels, especially for those that log 3+ rides or more per week at an hour or more per ride. There isn't much documentation available however. The LS website...

Best short cage rear mech for 1 x 8 set up???

The Shimano RD M739 is a very respectable unit. Depending on the chainring size you use you can actually use the short or medium cage in lieu of the long cage. Personal preference for me is the long cage - less cable tension on the shifter pod mech pulling it up into the biggest gear on the...

Anyone running Risse Judy cartridges - are they worth it?

Re: Anyone running Risse Judy cartridges - are they worth it One of the better kept secrets on how to keep RS Judys alive and working well. Decent product. I use them in 1 leg. Very pleased with them. If you are considering them, I recommend them...

storing a bike when not in use? deflate tyres??

I typically will clean, lube. let some air out, and wipe the tires down with ArmorAll. It helps keep the tire compound supple and seems to help inhibit the alligator cracking in the sidewalls.

    ...creaky saddle rails

Saddle and seatpost manufacturers that might be paying attention to or monitoring this thread please take note. For saddles: An indexed, knurled section on the saddle rails would eliminate movement of the clamp on the rail and resolve said squeaking. For saddle clamps: Serrated clamp rail...

    ...creaky saddle rails

One other question... Do you use a seatpost shim/spacer? Is it metal? If the "creaking" it not cause by the saddle rails, and you've not already done the following - try a bit of anti seize compound or lube, between the SP and shim, and the shim and the seat tube.

    ...creaky saddle rails

What kind of saddle? Is it a sprung saddle by chance? If it is, the"creaking" might be its spring(s).

What retro part have you accidentally hoarded?

Shimano M739 cranksets (both NOS and used) and the corresponding long cage rear derailleur (mostly used, which I've carefully rebuilt/reconditioned). Started out intending to keep an "appropriate" amount of spares to keep my ride in operation, primarily the drivetrain stuff. It was impossible...

Could I benefit from a few extra inches?

A first for this forum. Somebody figured out how to get the question of whether size matters into a topic! I'm sure that I don't want to know if you could "benefit". Kind of a personal question, but let's defer to the female respondents... Ladies?

While out for a ride a couple of days ago...

It was one of those "if looks could kill" looks. It was full of anger, contempt, scorn, and rebuke. It surprised me, as the situation and setting really didn't warrant it (at least I don't think so). What really caught me off guard was the incongruity of that nexus. A nice night, a decent...

While out for a ride a couple of days ago...

I’m a gravel grinder at heart. I live in a rural community with numerous smaller dairy farms that dot the landscape. With the exception of the road thru town, everything else is gravel country roads, most made violently washboard by the farm equipment. In dry weather the roads that haven’t been...

    Judy XC rebuild help

If you decide not to rebuild them, please contact me. I might be interested in the parts. Much as you are doing now, I likewise rebuilt mine. Parts are precious hard to come by! It may take you parts from 2 or 3 forks to get one suitably rebuilt. Good luck.

    Schwinn Build

Decent Schwin 19" aluminum Moab hardtail frame. Can't quite determine the year. Moab 2 or Moab 3? The Moab is my favorite hardtail. Got several of them. The STX-RC gruppo, was that the level of the original componentry? The original fork probably was a RS Indy C or XC. Please post pics of the...
